Time to get GrubEx out. It won't kill the current grubs in the soil. It will kill new grubs trying to enter into the soil and will also cover you for army worms. Thanks for the heads up buddy!! I’ve been so pre occupied with the bee’s the last several weeks I’d forgotten all about that. If we can avoid a few days of rain I need to spot treat a few weeds anyway so I’ll add this to my weekend agenda. We’re finally greening up around here so hopefully I can get back on my yard routine soon. Tpack that’s a beautiful yard!!! Yeah Tpack's lawn is awesome. It's so nice and flat that I would have a Toro greens mower that. Or a toro triplex with that square footage. Doubt the wife would go for the triplex cost lol

I should probably put some masonry sand where the sprinkler system lines were run and some other low spots. Knowing what direction to mow and raising the height just a little (1.25") helps hide most of the imperfections. It was supposed to rain yesterday so I sprayed some Imidacloprid for grubs @.6 oz./1000 sq. ft. and then I got no rain. Now I`ll have to water it in . Cost per 1000 sq. ft. is about 50 cents. Old technology is cheap compared to the newer stuff. I`ll spray again in another 90 days.

Sooooo…. How bad is this stuff at 150 pounds per 6,000 square feet? 150lbs over 6k? That would be 7.5lbs of N. That’s about 2yrs worth of N all at once. I would think your going to have a pretty good nitrogen burn.

If the grass grows, that’s cool, if not, I’ll sod the yard.

Sooooo…. How bad is this stuff at 150 pounds per 6,000 square feet? Ok..... I did the math on 150 lbs. of 30-0-4 on 6000 sq. ft. and this is my conclusion.

So far there has been no change. Grass isn’t dying and neither are the weeds.

Sooooo…. How bad is this stuff at 150 pounds per 6,000 square feet? Wade, I use that on my yard and have been 3 years. It does really good except on dallisgrass. I almost have that under control by pulling and roundup. You have to put it on twice a year and stick with it. Matt, my son swears by Milorganite Clicky but I haven't tried it yet.

Almost a week into this screw up, along with the rains, the grass is looking like it will survive.
Weeds are flourishing. I’ll address them when we get back from vacation in a few weeks

So far there has been no change. Grass isn’t dying and neither are the weeds. Ad The picture you posted is strictly fertilizer, not weed killer. Did you perhaps mean to put up a pic of the Bio-Advanced 3 in 1, fertilizer, weed killer, crabgrass control product? I have used the 3 in 1 before and wasn’t all that impressed with it.

I didn’t even notice until you mentioned it. Either way, putting down what’s equivalent to like 5x too much in 1 application has little effect. Now I know why my previous lawn companies quit. They always said I had “super weeds” and just need to scrape and start over

What’s the preferred method and brand of Iron that won’t stain the concrete? Feature. It's a great product. It's eddha and edta chelation. Won't stain and easily foliar absorbed/readily plant available. I use it a 1-1.5oz (by weight) per 1000sq feet every 2 weeks and love the results. I haven't started using it this season yet. I just kinda eyeball my color and decide when to start. And it's tank friendly with just about anything. If I'm going to spray some fungicide out, I'll add feature. I try and plan my sprays where I can tank and do stuff every 2 weeks or 4 weeks. I don't want to just spray feature and then remember oh next week I need to spray a fungicide or a soluble fertilizer and I'm out there spraying every week. I want the least amount of apps as possible and not create more work. This is also where a soil test would come in handy. Just going off Ph only. If you have the high Ph like me at 7.5ish I know iron apps are going to improve my color as iron is bound up in the soil and not available to the roots, but you can bypass the root system and spray it and then it is plant available immediately via foliar uptake. If you're at a super low Ph like 5 then you need to bring it up a little with lime and iron and other micros will be root absorbed and you'll see a color improvement naturally. Depending on what is available in that soil. And then that goes back to the soil test. https://i-want-feature.square.site/shop/feature/2To add to Derek's great answer, there was a point a couple-few years back that Feature was hard to get. I think some substituted Main Event. My supply was good so I never looked into Main Event and I have been buying Feature from the site Derek linked. I ordered 2 bags back in January after remembering that it was out of stock some of the time last year. I used this product last year @ 1.5 oz. per 1000 and really happy with the results. This was 6-5-23 last year after mowing. It looked much greener 2-3 days after mowing with new growth. Good stuff. Looks great!

Just took this picture, need to back lap my reel mower. That looks great. I just finished mowing after going 3 days and 2" of rain. I thought I was going to have to raise the mower. It hadn`t grown that much in height (1/2") but it had gotten much thicker all of a sudden. The .5 lb. of nitrogen/AS per 1000 sq. ft. I put down 2 weeks ago got a boost with the rainwater. Going to try and put down some Feature this week if I have time and it`s not raining.

Just took this picture, need to back lap my reel mower. Nice! How often are you back lapping? I've heard Zeon can be rough on blades. I got a back lap buddy this year. I like the job it does on the bed knife after lapping.

I finally got a little green coming in, I’m about to scalp it again and start working on leveling it up. We’re about to start building our new place pretty soon so hopefully this one will be on cruise control so I don’t have to baby sit it. The new yard is going to be pretty slick, I’m looking forward to seeing this one come together and get to use the reel mower again.
