Here's the way I have my Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT outfitted for quick access to rifles. Components from All Right Products, Big Sky, Great Day and home made.

Hell to to no for me on those set ups,,, the guns stored pointing up or down or it’s not going to be around me. I’m not getting off the SXS to open a gate and have a gun pointed at me empty or not.

I've never had a gun in any kind of gun rack go off when no one was touching it and I've had them loaded in horizontal ATV/UTV racks for over 30 years and thousands of miles.

LOL never had one go off,,,, It only takes 1 time but let me ask you this, are you comfortable with someone picking up your unloaded rifle and pointing it at you as you walk around every 15 minutes or so just for the heck of it? I didn’t think so but you seem to be comfortable walking in front of it strapped to a SXS apparently loaded or not.

That’s simply piss poor gun safety 101 in my opinion and you being a gun manufacturer on top of that makes it even worse..

The difference here is, someone handling the gun and pointing it at me or the gun immobile in a gun rack with no one touching it. A VERY major difference here!

I've carried my rifle in an identical position on a 4 wheeler, round chambered, on safety both bolt action and AR. So let me ask you this: What could cause the rifle to fire while it is in the rack under the circumstance you describe?

How do your transport your firearms from the safe to the stand?

You ever put your rifle in a hard case, and in the bed of the truck? In a soft case in laid in the back seat?

If you don't completely disassemble your firearm, or have somebody else drive so that you may hold it while its pointed to the sky.... Well that's piss poor gun safety.

Thinking your opinion matters makes it even worse.

lol. Please climb down from that mighty steed way in the sky. Bringing the kids into it.... You're trying too hard bud.

"You do you" as well. If you don't have anything constructive to help the OP regarding gun racks - scabbards options, then maybe keep to yourself?

So, since you couldn't answer my question it must be impossible for you to explain to me how a rifle could discharge under the circumstances you described. If you have to make up scenarios to be relevant, you're not.

Your reaching buddy, who do you hunt with? Are their kids around? Most people have kids around them so that’s a very logical situation. If you choose to point guns at people regardless of the situation then go far it. I assure you if you get shot I won’t loose any sleep over it so continue doing what you do.

I offered my opinion to the op of going vertical, pretty hard to get shot with a gun pointed up or down unless your climbing over it.

It’s common sense, do you go to the rifle range with loaded or unloaded weapons pointed down range?

No kids around me when I do it. If there were, I'd have them open the gate from their side. You may not be smart enough to manage things as well as others and that's ok. There's only 10 other's that posted above that have rifles horizontal without issue.

Still no answer. Explain to me how a rifle could discharge under the circumstances you originally described. We're not talking about range safety, if kids are present, other people pointing firearms at us, etc....

Because 10 people eat a bowl of rotten dog crap doesn’t mean it’s good for you and if I recall your the one who rides around with a loaded firearm strapped to your handlebars are your questioning my smarts?

@ Ol Thumper: Add eating a bowl of rotten dog crap to the irrelevant examples you provide. My suspicion that you're not smart enough to manage things as well as others is made obvious by your inability to properly pose a question. You're writing on a 7th grade, C- level.
You still have not answered my question on how a firearm could discharge under the circumstances your originally described.

I wont take sides on this but I will answer Onlysmiths question. My best friend had hunted his way back to truck and laid a loaded rifle down(safety on) on his truck seat before taking his backpack off and unloading it. Nothing touched the trigger but it just went off. I guess it was just the jar of setting it down. Something was wrong with the trigger/safety.
edit... For what its worth, I dont think anyone involved in this discussion is stupid or foolish, including Thumper. Just a difference of opinion.

So, it went off as it came in contact with the seat, or after he laid it down and there was a lapse of time between contacting the seat and discharge?
