Decent point, but by the time you properly strap a boat it's almost a part of the trailer, and most of them aren't top-heavy like a UTV is. Just makes me nervous. I've had a blowout with a single-axle trailer and I lived to tell about it, but also learn from the lesson. It was not a fun experience.

Agree with QSYB as I often do. Strapped down better and not as top heavy-great points.
I NEVER want a flat on a single axle..oh, that’s right, I don’t own any singles.

Never seen a boat over 19’ on a single axle trailer. I personally wouldn’t own a single axle trailer.

I’m not attempting to pile it on here but in my personal opinion of hauling trailers hundreds of thousands of miles over the years the only single axle trailer owners are those that haven't had a high speed catastrophic blow out on a loaded trailer in traffic. Once you have your underwear surgically removed from your anus you’ll never own another one..

Or someone that has to deal with tight quarters and needs to move it by hand...I've had blow outs on single axle trailers and still own a 12 footer...it will make a fella pucker a sphincter but if you don't panic you can get it to the side without losing stuff or messing stuff up.

Plus that 40k Defender on that trailer is worth more then every vehicle I own roflmao

Because the gates are removable and then you have no place to mount it. I had my gate removed at least 50% of the time on my trailer which is why my current one doesn’t have a gate.

Question, assume you had two new exact trailers sitting side by side for sale except that one was single axle and the other double. What would the price difference be? Not the overall price but the difference in price. Assume a trailer similar to whats talked about here. Just a ball bark.

Pretty close guesstimate, maybe a touch more with brakes.

I totally failed to give you mad props for your trailer build,, that’s how you build a trailer up

Thanks, I just don’t feel the need to run tandem trailers to haul a 1500 lb buggy or my zero turn. I blew one out on the highway one summer, wasn’t a problem really just held onto the wheel and pulled over. Now I run quality 10 ply 225 tires instead of the cheap 205’s. It’s nice to be able to unload a buggy then throw the trailer on the back of it and drag it through the mud

I had this trailer built by a reputable trailer company. It’s just 10’ long but as wide as is legal. Brakes, solid sides and a little tailgate that lifts out. It’s often used to haul 6000# on corn. I paid about 3000 or less.
Sounds like y’all are saying the exact trailer in a single axle would of cost me half as much or less. Surely not… Just curious.

Axles, suspension and wheels/tires would’ve cost $1200-$1500 back then for that trailer. Maybe $700-$900 for the steel. Whoever built it either lost their [censored] on it or don’t pay employer taxes, have insurance, etc.

Ramball, I know nothing about trailers but for what its worth I pulled the invoice. If was built to my specifications and paid for on 11-4-21 and the cost was 2650. TTL brought it it 2950. I dont know about their markup, employer taxes, insurance, etc but they have been a family owned business operating out of a decent size building and yard for 41 years and have a great reputation locally. You deal directly with the owner and his wife and they are great. They also sell a lot of new tractors of all types. I thought it was kind of high but I guess I got lucky.
Back to the OP, I bought it with zero intention of hauling a SXS on but I would think it would work good if it would fit inside 10'.

You are more motivated then most. Im not taking the gate off. If I need to pick up a pallet ill just put it in bed of truck,

I welded my plate holder like maxx. Took plate and 45’ed it from fender to C-channel and moved light bracket to it. Cant drag nor does it stick out.

It’s hard to get 3 pallets of sod, rock, or brick in the bed of a truck.

More like 6600 lbs, at least where I buy from unless it’s extremely wet.

But I’ve had 4500 pounds in the bed of my 2500, just load the mule, she can handle it.

I wouldn’t have a bed left if I did that with a beer can. I’ve had probably 100 yards of rock dumped in the bed over the last 9 years.

Picked up this 5x10 tilting welding trailer for $600. The welder is shot, but pretty sure I can get the gas compressor going. I took it apart, took the wire wheel to it, repainted it, packed bearings and put the boards on it this morning. Got $823 in it total.
