Decent video. I've heard of the company on the back of the trackers' coveralls, but don't think I've met the young PH. 'Never fired at one, but being around them is a rush you'll never forget. (The elephants, not the trackers or PH. grin)

And another. Honest, real PH. You never see the kid in the Heym tshirt's face, but he's no slouch of a hunter neither, and there's probably a reason you never see him. I don't blame them one bit and kudos to the editor. up 'Looks like a really old buff bull they take. Well done.

(Obviously, missing southern Africa.)

I think I may want to shoot an elephant one day.

Lots of other things to hunt first, but Elephant is not off the table

I'm with you. Hunting one up close and on foot has a whole lot of appeal for me.

I had a chance to go after elephant when I was in Cameroon. A herd was tearing up the crops of the nearest village and they wanted them run off and the govt was willing to give 2 permits to us. At the time you could not import elephant trophies from Cameroon into the USA so I passed on the chance since it would have taken at least 4 days away from my safari and the game I was after. Always regretted letting that slip by.

I'd have to clean out my pants after that hunt.

Ive always wondered why most of the PH don't use a sling on their rifle

Seems like it would be a PIA to carry it how they do

They offered me a cow elephant in RSA for somewhere right around $30k IIRC. Apparently in certain locales they are overpopulated and are creating a nuisance of themselves

A friend, Bill Stewart, who has hunted them several times and wrote a book about it told me a tuskless hunt is usually more dangerous than one for a tusked male. So if it is adventure you crave ...

I really want to shoot a big jumbo myself. My uncle loves to hunt elephants and he'll hit me up from time to time (extra tags or nuisance elephants) to go but its always last min type of deal where I have to drop what I'm doing and jump on a plane

Action is about the 5:10 mark

Its WILD how close in they get before taking a shot.

You can always do it the old fashioned way and book a passage on an ocean liner. 2 weeks at sea can’t be all that bad…

I’d love to shoot an elephant. I wouldn’t enjoy parting with that kind of money, though.

At this stage of the game, that’s really what I’m after, the adventure aspect.

Braining an elephant at spitting distance certainty would be an adrenaline rush.

I think it would be more of an adventure with a bow but I have a feeling as soon as a send an arrow they are laying down 2 kill shots.

I have all of Alaska with a bow before I can worry about Africa

What happens with the carcass. Locals take care of it? That would be a real thriller.

I think they feel it would get caught in brush and slow down their reaction time. I know their "African carry" over their shoulder is foreign to us, some might say "dangerous", but they always control the direction of the muzzle.

Yeah, I would imagine.

I feel about the same. Lots of cool stuff I’d like to shoot before I get to that point, as much as I’d like to do it.
