I appreciate all the input. Im not really looking for show quality but do want a good job. Im gonna drive around and pull a horse with it and take it to the lease. The few places have called haven’t called me back and the ones that have act like they don’t have the time or desire to do it. Now I did call Maaco cause a buddy at work used them and it turned out really good. I have read some reviews and they are all over the place. The Maaco man said it’s because they offer 3 levels of deals. Budget and middle and primo. People get they budget and expect primo results. Maaco told me $2000 for primo. 2 stage paint job and minor rust. For what I’m gonna do with it that sounds pretty good. Best body style Ford ever made. My 1st truck was a 1985 3/4 ton with an in-line 6, loved the granny gear. It was tan.

Ford paid to strip my 1987 F150 to bare metal and repaint due to the primer problems. I got lucky because I bought a new 1993 that had a slight dent in the tailgate and was fixed prior to delivery. Dealership service manager was at the body shop when I picked it up. I asked him what he was doing there and he said supervising the warranty paint jobs. He remembered I had a 1987 and asked if I had any paint problems. I said some small specks on fender but thought my color was not covered. He said bring it in we are winding these warranty jobs down. I had some nice pinstriping and they redid it also.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Got it back. Maaco did what I asked. I did it care about the hail damage or dents. I just wanted the rust taken care of. Got to put the mirrors and side marker lights on. I also found some retro looking LED headlights

I thought my 1993 F150 was the best body style. Definitely not 1997 in a F150. I had one and a GM loving buddy called it a Mustang with a bed.

Take spec for pounds of R12 X 0.8 then add 0.25 for the total R134a it needs. Gauges are more difficult than a machine but not a big deal. Pull a vacuum on it for ten minutes and try to get it to -30". Make sure it holds for five minutes. SLOWLY charge through the low side with the system on (if it has a cycling switch).
Pass the gravy.

I pulled a vacuum but I was not able to jump the compressor. I tried it at the switch and also tried running power straight to the compressor from the battery but couldn’t get it to respond. Does that mean my compressor is bad?

I'd like to see a schematic of the system (if it were a Silverado I wouldn't need that) but regardless, giving the compressor power and ground should make it run. The clutch coil could be bad. You could verify with an Ohm meter but I am not sure the spec. Obviously OL is bad. You can test the circuits at the clutch with the engine running, AC on, switch jumped.
Pass the gravy.

Well had my first try at ac stuff. Replaced compressor, evap, condessor and dryer. Went great and blowing cold. Had to replace the fuel fuel tank switcher valve and now the fuel gauge works. I rhino lined the bed and all LED’s. Had a little issue with the choke sticking but it was needed a little cleaning and wd40. Running like a new one now. This is why they call it bull nose! Ha
