For really big pigs I will roll them over onto a folded ladder or ATV ramp. Next I will lift one end of the ladder up and set it on the tailgate, atv rack, or trailer. Next walk to the other end of the ladder and then slide it into the bed, trailer, or onto the atv rack. It works just like loading a stretcher into an ambulance. Pretty much anyone can load a 300 pound hog that way all by themselves.

Pigs, just cut the head off, then quarter them on the spot. I shot a huge boar in the Panhandle and had no choice. Hogs fat on his back was so thick and white it was amazing.
Deer: drag away from feeder, field dress and again quarter if necessary.

Sheet of 1” plywood cut to fit you pick up bed. Slide it out with one end on the tailgate and the other end on the ground. Drag the animal up onto the plywood. Pick the end of the plywood up and slide it in the bed. The higher up the plywood you go with the animal the more leverage you have and the lighter the plywood will be. Works pretty slick. Smokey, good idea for some but my truck has way too much “stuff” in back for that to work. I could hoist an elephant though.

I'm not loading a pig. I'll drag his arse or let him lay. Not loading no hog either. I keep a rope in the back of my truck just for dragging them off if they fall to close to my blind or feeder. I`ve never had a buck I couldn`t load by myself. I tie a rope around the horns and lift until I can grab the horns while standing on tailgate. My body weight as leverage to drag them into bed of truck. A few have been a struggle, but I managed to get them.

There's a tool called a come along that will do the job. They need an anchor so you might need a cross bar, etc. in the bed of the truck. Harbor Freight sells 2nd rate ones but a nominal amount- good enough for a few hundred pounds. Might want some skids.

I used to do this until there was dew on the truck bed, I had grabbed the horns and gave a hood heave when my feet slip, I landed in my lower back on the tailgate then fell onto the buck as he dragged me out of the truck bed. Hurt like hell. I built a hoist the next week.

Hogs don't have a handle so loading them is tough. Drag them to a rot spot.
Drop the guts to lighten the load?
I have used two ropes and 4 wheeler....pulled an axis up a tree limb, tied it off then drove under it, let it down onto the 4 wheeler.
I do see purchasing a mechanical advantage of some sort in the near future. Lots of good ideas here.

Yup, or drag it up a steep hill or incline, tie it off, park below with tail gate down and let gravity do the rest. Hunters are resourceful.

Good job only S&W. I started with the idea of an axle strap and a come-along and that evolved into the set-up in my earlier post. Just do the best you can with what your have.

Well, if there are any trees nearby. Rope to tree and back truck to pull hog/deer into bed- need skids.

Tie one end of a rope to the front of the vehicle, throw the rope over limb near and above the vehicle and tie it to the animal neck or legs. Put the vehicle in reverse and pull the animal onto the bed.

I don't think that will work. The camo being worn by the operator is too old school and not "technical" or expensive enough to satisfy many on here.

Worked on my legs at gym other day for first time and I could use that lift thingy just to get up and down out of a chair.
