not trying to brag or toot my own horn, but having friends with private land and pit blinds has been great. super fortunate and grateful for them You can have it. Would much rather hunt public with my dog, solo. That is just me tho, I'm glad you are liking it. I do not mind hunting with friends, but that is more of a novelty for me. I just looked at my log from last season, 100% of my hunts were solo. I normally try and hunt with a friend or 2 once a season, for the fun of it, but my preference is solo.

public I still hunt birds are always in same spots. no need to scout Scouting is part of the fun, and pays off. I do not hunt nearly as much as I used to, I used to burn all my vacation days scouting/hunting, now I save them for skiing. But I do like to hunt once a week, like to scout on Saturday, camp, hunt on Sunday. I'll scout several spots, sometimes several lakes, on Saturday, pic the best spot for Sunday. Last season for the first time I also crappie fished on Saturday, mixed in with scouting. That is a great weekend there for me.

Same here, public land solo hunts with just the dog and I tucked up in some brush is how I like it. Put in 30 hunts last year all on public and all but 4 hunts were solo.

We send out just over 80 thank you cards every fall to our farmers who let us hunt and we hit a lot of private. Way too much sucking up for me. Lol I have no issues with it at all as most are real good people and I love talking with them all. In some ways, a lot of them have become family outside of family. Also, some of these folk are real rural, so it gives them a connection they wouldn't have outside of their own rural area. So it is fun for them as well. If it at all felt like a job or became a PIA, I would just hunt public, but it is just another element of the sport that makes me appreciate it more. I feel like anyone can throw money at anything and find success that way. The fact we have never paid a dime to lease or be on a property, just makes it that much sweeter. Sure, its cost us money repairing land or having meat processed to give to them to show gratitude, but that makes it even sweeter. I thoroughly enjoy being around good people and respecting their land .

I generally hunt solo and scout solo. but I do have 2 buddies that when it is later in the season, we will go together is 1 of us is really on some birds. The kind of buddies that know it is a spot that I found or they found and we would not spoil it for everyone or share the location at all .
