I usually carry 2 in my pack a folder in my pocket and a fixed on my belt. I do tend to gravitate to the fixed blades for skinning and a heaver camp typoe knife for going thru joints if needed. Different steels hold up better for prolonged use in those situations.

Another Havalon changeable blades and a fixed Gerber. But I do have a knife bag full of assorted I'll bring to my skinning station just in case.

I also use a havalon, but I tell ya I'd probably prefer a fixed blade I could sharpen myself. I killed a bull in NM in October and swear it took about 4-5 blades to skin the thing out. Would prefer a really sharp fixed blade in the long run just haven't pulled the trigger on investing in one.

Knife addict - I fall under the more category. Handful of benchmades and esees along with replaceable blade knives when I am feeling lazy.

I have 8 custom handmade knives that were gifts. It's according to who's there with me when I'm skinning it, I'll use the knife they gave me. If more than 1 of them is there, bring the whole dang box of them and just grab any ole knife.

For general duty I've been using a Puma master folder for 30 years now. I use a Havalon for detail/caping, and sometimes use an Outdoor Edge folding replaceable blade just because. The older Puma's are workhorses.

Pretty much do everything thing with just a few knives. Knives of Alaska set (cleaver/skinner and caping knife), Puma Skinner and Puma Duke folder.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!
