Does anyone know of a gun smith in Tarrant County area that does stippling for 1911s? Have found places you have mail to, however don't trust post services. Thanks

Could you clarify what you are looking for a bit further? Stippling is usually done on a polymer frame gun by applying heat and melting the surface in a pattern. 1911 frames are usually steel or aluminum alloy. You can checker the front strap with a special file and the rear by replacing the mainspring housing. Another option is to just buy wrap-around grips. Believe it or not, steel frame 1911 front straps could be "stippled" kinda like an engravers tool, this was very sharp, started when "action" pistol shooting started CIRCA 1975..
Now if you got the bucks 30 Lines per inch checkering is the nut.
Mailing the frame suks. Check Crawley Customs. Not sure if he's still in business but he is a master at the 30lpi. Ken Crawley, was in Kemp.
Check at 1911 Academy in Mckinney

Looking fo have the front strap done in a more aggressive texture. Thanks Now I don't know if you're just wanting to spend a bunch of money for something that looks cool, and that's okay if you do, but a little skateboard tape around the front strap tucked under both grips will give you as much or more grip than any of the checkering or stippling you can buy.

There's a guy in Commerce who does the work himself in his own shop. He did my Series 88 Target and did a hell of a job for a VERY reasonable price. He kept it for about 3 weeks due to his work load. Johnny at Back Forty Guns....903-272-4404. HIGHLY recommend. He also does cerakoting and has a full service gun shop. I know it's not an ideal location for you but he does stellar work.
