Assuming the Mk1 is the 50mm version, it looks like the major differences are in the form factor and the chassis. Is it six of one, half a dozen of the other, or is there a compelling reason to pick one over the other?

The Alpha is the 100% exact same scope as the MK1 RH50 but in a different housing. Imagine removing the body off your pickup and dropping a new body on it, that's what the Alpha is, nothing different at all. The benefits to the Alpha are it comes with the $200 American Defense QD, a spare $170 battery, it has a magnetic USB battery/data connection and it has different focus knob. The Alpha cannot accept the LRF module.

With the RH50 currently being on sale for $1,000 off, the Alpha is a lot harder purchase to justify unless you just really want it. But at $4,999, the RH50 is an insanely good deal.

If you have more questions, just let me know.
