I got my bill last month and noticed two new fees relating to the cold spell in 2021. They total $115. I called and asked how long this was going to last. The nice gal told me 27.8 years! I did some quick math. $115x12 months=$1,380 annually or $38,000. I then asked her how many customer they had she told me 6,000. Well 6k x $38k is $228 million. That's just my Coop. That's insane and yes I had her repeat because I couldn't belive it. Is everyone getting the shaft or is it just me?

Haven't noticed any bumps from our co-op in the Panhandle. We got down to -9 back then too.

I was told by the Coop that since they own the poles, I can't have another provider.

I emailed my Co op, the fee was $126 for last month.
A rep referred me to published explanations about “subjectivity”.
So I asked how long this charge for a weather event from over two years ago was going to continue?

NO answer.

Members own the poles but yes, you don't have a choice.

I was wondering how they made billions in $$$ charges go away, just delayed evidently.

My co-op hasn’t changed rates in years. 5 miles away folks not on it had 700-800 dollar bills last summer. Mine stayed around 200.

I heard the charge for Oncor customers was going to be about $2/month for 30 years. Not sure if it has kicked in yet. Unless I look closely at my bill I would never notice $2. I want to know who benefited from the money. It went somewhere. I suspect the natural gas companies.

Our co-op charge is about $15. Bill says should be over by this September.

Yep, Same here. Was told this would be around for a total of nearly 30 years as well. Where I am at , you have only one option for a Power company. That fee is associated to Texas Senate Bill 1580 and it appears that the "fee" isn't fixed but is based on your usage. Some months its been $50 while others it has been $100+. The most recent bill was $385 and we keep the heat on 68 and AC on 75 so we have to figure something out because I wont be able to afford it in the summer months.

My January bill for my shop was $12 in usage and $79 in fees. Typically it's about $30 total.

If you willing entered into contracts with a provider and did not understand the risk, then it is on you.

This is not right for folks on coops, where there is no choice,

There needs to be some people go to jail over this and maybe a few lynched at the courthouse.

Been a lot of complaints on the nextdoor app around here about Navarro co-op about fees and prices. One person called whoever oversees the electrical stuff in Austin. They told him tough luck, pay your bill lol.

We had been hearing about how high fixed rate plan renewals were in the past year. However, maybe now they won't be shockers when renewals come up. Natural gas futures are 2.78 right now vs. about 9.00 at various times last year. A quick search just showed 47% of TX power generation is from natural gas.

I have the City of Denton electric and there is no line item charge like this.

City of Denton is pretty retarded with most things, I guess they missed out on the opportunity to screw us with that charge.

Signed up with a new provider yesterday and for the first time I was given a quote that included energy, transmission, taxes, and fees. Surprisingly, the energy cost of 7.9 cents/kWh was 2 cents lower than what I had been paying for the last two years. I'm satisfied given the wife and I don't use enough electricity to get the lowest rates.

My co-op didn't have that line item on my last bill...I went and checked because of this post. That's some special BS.
