I pray you get good rain this summer. Start feeding protein now so they get fat and happy when that start growing antlers again. You should have some nice wall art next season. Good luck and happy hunting those guys. salute

Thanks Brangus, about what I was thinking. Has the frame to add more if he can throw on some mass and point length. Time will tell.

It is a hard guess what he will be like next year, given how this year hit him with the drought and rut activity. If he did a lot of running this season, he may drop some next year. If he was mostly sedentary he may grow some. But the lack of good nutrition this season may catch up and make things entirely worse for him next season. Studies have shown there is great variability from one year to the next. The one good thing he has going is he appears healthy, and he is allowed to get older. Other than that, guessing next year is a crap shoot.

He is a pretty deer tho, and has the frame to do a lot. The lack of mass does scare me a little, but that comes with age, usually

I've got him on the juice, protein again this off-season so maybe he'll jump from 2 star recruit to 3-4 stars, lol...

The only juice I know of is Hud's indian corn....if you got him on that then he will be a 150+ 12 pt next season clap

Of course there is always double down feed. that is so magical the buck would not be able to hold his head up next season moose

Nice deer DQ
4.5 for sure and could be 5.5
43-44 up & 87-89 down
130-133.

could be a touch better even then that. Deer as a damn nice frame so could be mid 30s

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Agreed. Body frame and thickness suggest he could even be a rutted-down 5.5. I'd keep a sharp eye on him. If he's only 4.5, he could be a monster in two years.

Rutted down 130 inch max 4.5-5 year old. As much rain as we are getting, a wet spring and he could go higher.

A good 4.5 year old. I know your property isn’t huge, but if you think he’ll live, I’d see what he is as a 6.5 year old! Should put on a more time length and your looking for mass to build! Possibly a 140”-150” deer in 20 months, if the nutrients are available.

Nice buck Steve, they look to be in similar ballpark. Yours looks to have a bit more mass but maybe slightly less spread and main beam length but as you've said, hard to tell off pics. Out of curiosity, what did this one age if you know?
