Just felt like easy sweets this morning, while drinking coffee. What's a guy to do??? smile

1 can apple pie filling, mashed or diced in the can
1 medium apple, diced fine
1 package yellow cake mix
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup self rising flour
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/4 cup pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Mix dry ingredients first, then mix wet ingredients into it. Blend or mix with mixer.
Pour into two (2) greased and floured bread pans
Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top
Bake 45-55 minutes, or until done and a toothpick comes out clean

OK, I'm not a baker but have the things to put this together.

Do you follow the cake mix directions on "add water and oil", then add to the above ingredients?

Thanks!

Tasted good this morning in the deer stand. Best warm from the oven or tosyed later but it was dang good out here today. Hopefully Blank will answer your mix question.

I am on a very low sodium diet so mixed my own. Cake part to reduce that

PM answered. You don't need to add the oil and water to this mix, just the dry cake mix. At the end, if it seems too dry you can add just a little milk to thin it out before putting in the bread pans

It's an easy simple recipe and works well with any fruit and fruit filling. I have done both blueberry and strawberry also

I'm "baking challenged" once in a while stuff comes out okay. I quit on pie and do cobblers. A cup of self rising flour, a cup of sugar, and cup of milk- pretty fool proof. Then what ever you want, apples, black berry, pineapple, etc. Cherry. is good. I toast sliced almonds and add those on the cherry. Black berry probably top of the line.

I made it yesterday and it is mostly gone, yea, all of it!
Don't forget the fresh apple and pecans. I added a large green apple that was in the fridge. Really added to flavor and texture.

Just made two loafs. one with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top and one with brown sugar and cinnamon. both turned out great. I did use a "no sugar added" pie filling as my wife has diabetes. Definitely appreciate the recipe. up

For her there are several sugarfree cake mixes available as well. Might lower that sugar more.

Mixing my own is another reason we do cakes from scratch
