I’m a 2.9, but due to lack of play, I can’t play to it. PXG irons, hogan wedges (they’re really good), Rogue driver and 4 wood, a rotation of 3 or 4 putters. I’ll be able to play more this year- here’s hoping I can get the game back in shape.

Likely still too wet anywhere near here today.

My handicap is creeping up but will jump big time when my second 82 falls off the figures (the previous 82 already did).

Pass the gravy.

My highest putt total yet! 40......

I was trending in the right direction for a while..... this is a real set back

Going for a driver lesson today. I have to be able to control the beast....

Bad part is I can hit my 3 wood just as far as my driver. I hit it off the turf 270 yesterday, but for some reason with a head 3 times bigger, and off a tee I hit my driver the same, if not shorter because I'm trying too hard to make sure It hits the fairway. I did okay with it yesterday but like I said I had to baby it.

Putting lesson will follow the driver lesson. I might pull the trigger on a new putter today.

On a different note...... the wife was piping her drives down to Fairway. It was probably her most consistent Club. I'll predict in a couple of more months she will probably be able to beat me.

Ese, saw a golf study 15-20 years ago showing how most amateurs would benefit by teeing off with 3 wood more, picking up much more accuracy than driver and only losing 15 yards or so on average, since 3 wood tends to carry well and disperse less.

Mine can crack it off the tee as well. Sometimes the advantage she gets from the ladies tee just ain’t fair grin

That calculus may change some for players able to carry driver 285+ but accuracy is probably still important.

I would 100% agree with this. I tried to bag my driver but my sensei told me I had to face my fear.

On occasions I can carry 270, but 270 in the woods doesn't do me any good. I'm hopeful my instructor can pick up on something today.

Lmao yup, and that was only her forth round of golf. I think she will be able to get it out another 15 yards, maybe end up at 230 yd drives.

I might have to move her back to the senior tees just to keep it fair.

Putter is like a wife. If you have in your mind you’ll get another if it doesn’t work out it’ll never work out.

Focus on 125-150 yards into the green and putting. That’s where you’ll cut strokes.

I currently have a 20+ year old putter my friend gave me. Its a face balanced putter, my stoke is more suited for a toe hang. I think its time to make the change.

I too hit the 3W off a tee very close distance to a driver. I cannot hit it off the ground well though. Driver is either all there or all gone, day to day, for me.

Our brains make a lot of corrections on the way down to the ball. Sometimes those corrections aren't correct. With the wider and taller face of a driver, those small changes we don't see or feel make a big difference.

Always visualize the ball flight you want instead of addressing the ball with a fear of a wayward shot.

Pass the gravy.

My clubs are old like me. King cobra’s with a Ping putter. I quit marking the scorecard when I hit 100. Putting is decent but getting there is a batch. Always have a beer cooler next to the clubs.

I started playing back in the late 70`s and early 80s out of HS. First set was a Jack Nickalus MacGregor / Golden Bear set and used them till I bought a new TaylorMade set about 9 years ago. I gave up golf completely from 1990 till I bought my new set of TaylorMade clubs. Still didn`t play much until I retired 2 years ago. Almost sold them and gave it up, but son and grandkids have become addicted to the sport and here I am.. I can actually hit my new driver farther and straighter @ 63 than I could with my older (vintage) clubs @ 30. I used to shoot 87-88 pretty consistently and personal best of 6 over 78 only once. I even shot a 38 on a 9-hole course that was a par 34 course last year and then shot a 47 the 2nd time around SMH. I have shot 94 several times since retiring, but haven broke into the 80`s yet. Hopefully this year will be the year I get it back.

I just picked up the new Ping Anser putter, seems like it will help my game. Next round I need to be under 30 putts.

Ha! After last week's 27 putt day I had 37 yesterday. Hoping for 32 today.

Overlooked too often is the "art of lag putting", when on putting greens, force yourself to practice, practice, practice long putts trying to get them in that 3-4' circle from 40' out. This should greatly improve your putting stats. I practice more at 40'+ than I do, 5-10'. I also roll more at 15-30' than the shorter ones, why? Because I know in a round I will have a lot of 15-40' putts for birdie and would ideally like to make no worse that par on those. In a round I probably average between 26-30 putts.

Yup, thats all I did yesterday. I'm really liking the new putter, the wife said she'd better see some putts drop now.
