I’m shocked ram hasn’t come out with a Yellowstone edition to compete with the king ranch edition ford.

I hadn't thought of that, I know several people that would have one if they did

I've heard Ram may be coming out with a 6666 edition.

Lol… no Romanian gypsies, but I did get to play a cowboy for 6 months and help push 256 head of longhorn steer 1600 miles from FT Worth to Miles City, MT. We would go about 15-19 miles a day and traveled through a lot of the same country you see in 1885 and Yellowstone. So yeah, it brings back a lot of cool memories up

According to the date when I scroll over the picture it appears I took this picture in in Oct, 2012 of a bunch of cowpokes on 287/81 around Alvord area, was this y'all?

Stub, ours was The Great American Cattle Drive and it we left the stockyards in March of 1995. We got to Miles City early September. There have been others since, but they usually stay in the same state and are more wagon type drives without all the cattle.

1885 was terrible.

Had the makings of being a real bad arse show but they shot that in the foot when they went too far with the young girls storyline.

I'm sure its entertaining to most folks that are not familiar with the little things but Taylor Sheridan really jumps the shark on alot of subjects in Yellowstone and its spinoffs

To me, the girl and her storyline is what made it great. Way better than Yellowstone.

Agree, she was the star of the show for me. I hated the ending though.

So was it a one way cattle drive up to Montana and then trailered the horses back to FT Worth or?

Yes Sir… one way. All the cattle were auctioned off in Miles City after the drive. At the beginning there were 4 real/true cowboys picked from each of the 6 states we went through. Some had more than one horse with them and would alternate them out. When we finally got there, the streets were blocked off and it was a big celebration with live music and the whole deal. We were all made honorary citizens of Miles City, given plaques and buckles and that was pretty much it. I had a woman waiting on me back home, so my buddy and I grabbed one of the ford trucks that was donated to the drive, said our goodbyes, and we drove 26 hours straight through back to Dallas.

The wolves scene was a bit over the top.

Somehow I just don't see an entire pack of wolves standing around a carcass long enough to whack all of em....silencers or not. lmao

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Great experience, and great story!

The book I've been reading lately us about Charles Goodnight. They would drive 2000-3000 head from what is now Cisco area, follow the Pecos around to Las Vegas NM, and then turn pretty much due north. The optimal herd size was half a mile long and 50 yards wide.

When you've been watching Lonesome Dove for the last 35 years, then you read the book, you see how Larry McMurtry blended in true stories into the book and series. Fighting the Indians in the creek and one having to float out really happened. Buring Deets a black man, and carving a marker "splendid behavior" really did happen. And many others.

I recommend the book to all Texas history students. Goodnight is another father of Texas.

Heard a news report yesterday that said they're currently filming in Venus, TX.

Taylor's love for Texas is definitely apparent in at least a few of the episodes, including the premier of Season 5 that he held in Ft. Worth. When asked if the premier were held in New York or LA, his responses was, "I wouldn't be there."

I agree with the others, episode 1 and 2 of the new season were really slow and the whole Beth/Jamie thing is getting stupid. Add in the Beth/Rip, character building flashback and I was like WTF. Looks like this year we will get more Kasey and his family melodrama. Throw in a big controversy for killing federal wolves, law suits from the big bad investment company, more Beth/Jamie melodrama, and this season is heading to be really dull. Hopefully they will have some decent action, but my guess is that it will be mostly melodrama, soap opera junk.

Thanks,
Rich

Taylor Sheridan is from Cranfills Gap, Texas and currently lives in Weatherford.

The Yellowstone stuff has made him a ton of money.

The drama would have started when Rip killed the grizzly. There would have been a full blown federal investigation. Rip supposedly has no real identity and like knight rider, does not exist, but he's out driving around, doing murders, participating in shoot outs, etc.

I still watch it but having more inside knowledge of things than the average viewer does, its a little hard to swallow sometimes.

The whole "we are gonna take your land to build an airport" thing was all preposterous.

Did anyone else notice a tractor finally showed up in one of the first two episodes? I was one of many who pointed out on social media how you never noticed a tractor anywhere on the Yellowstone cattle ranch.
