8 handicap up from a 5 since tore my left knee meniscus play with brace last 2+ years. Have Callaway Mavrik Pro Irons, TSi3 Titlelist driver, TS3 3 wood, 2 hybrid and U500 Titlelist utility 4 iron. Just bought the Cleveland Zipcore wedges yesterday, 54 degree and 58 degree. Play, ProVx, Srixon XV or Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. Generally play Sundays and occasionally Saturdays too, practice 2-3 times a week at range after work for 1-2 hours ea.

I played in high school in the early 70's then took a break or two and then played several days a week until the late 1990's. I got burned out on it. When I quit I was a mid to high 70's to low 80's player on a relatively easy course.
I would play again except for one reason and one reason only -- putting. I wasn't the best putter in our group, but not the worst either. I just think it takes up way too much time for my liking.
I would be happy if once you hit the green just gather up and go to the next tee box. I bet you could play twice the holes in the same amount of time. It drove me nuts watching people study puts forever. I couldn't stand slow players. I liked hitting the ball and rolling on. No need to stand over the ball forever, just hit it and go.

I played hard for 4 years with my buddies I managed mid 80s, then took a 17 year break....I'm trying to get back into it with the wife. I bought some Wilson D9 forged irons, 2-3 ping driving irons, and a G 425 LST driver.

A little while back I re-gripped my old ping eye-2+’s (2-SW) and seem to hit them better than I was my Titleist irons. Just feel more solid. I have a vokey 52 degree gap wedge, Spider putter, 19 degree TM Rescue, & Calloway Epic Flash driver. Sometimes I’ll swap the 2 iron for a Launcher 3 wood, but I don’t play much like I used to… probably only 3 or 4 times last year. I can play to a 12 or 13 handicap from the blues. Not as good as I was once… but I enjoy chasing the little white ball around.

About the 7th grade my dad enrolled me in lessons. After about 6 weeks the coach called dad and told him to save his money. He said that I had both talent and potential but I had no interest. Seems that I either hooked or sliced every shot to a water hazard. There I wandered around looking at the water life. He said I was going to be an outdoorsman. He was right. I never developed an interest in team or individual sports.
I was all for the woods and waters. Still am but sometimes watch NFL with wife.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I tried golf, couldn't get into it...boring
True story, I played in 1 scramble my whole life and won...
I had no clue at the time but I had a stud female on my team, she made all our shots...looked like a pro

We need to have a golf outing. 'Meet you at the 19th hole. Bartender has to be worth his, or her, salt though.

Ping G400s. When I hit the range and play frequently, low-to-mid 80s. Haven’t played much the last two years, so I’d need to work on it a bit.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

A THF golf day would be fun. Started playing right before Covid at age 45. I am wrong handed for golf and batting. Just got a new Sun Mountain C-130 bag. I built my putter and my driver, re-grip my own clubs for myself and friends. I tinker just like reloading. I have a GHIN and my handicap is 16.2 as of today, down from 22 in January 2022. I played about 120 rounds in 2022 but never practice. I had a set of Ping Zing 2 black dots 3-LW. They were worth more to someone else than me and I wanted newer tech so I bought a used 8-year old set. Driver: Ping G 9* set to 9.8* with a Project X Hazrdus Smoke 70g stiff shaft with medium grip. 3W: Callaway X series stiff shaft with medium grip. Hybrid: Titleist 915H turned up to 23* to make it essentially a 4. Stock grip. Irons: TaylorMade Tour Preferred MC forged 4-PW iron set with medium grips. Wedges: - 52* Top Flight Tour CB with 10* of bounce and stock grip
- 56* Top Flight Gamer Tour with 12* bounce and stock grip
- 60* Titleist Vokey Spin Milled with 8* of bounce and stock grip
Putter: Frankenstein model: home built with an eBay head, a vintage Ping 5-iron shaft, and a Super Stroke 5.0 grip My favorite ball is the Titleist Tour Soft but the Kirkland Signature version 2.0 plays like a 97% Titleist at half the price ($36 for two dozen). They are nothing like any other cheap (Nitro, Noodle, etc.) ball.
Pass the gravy.
