Is that the best deal going up here? That's certainly a reasonble monthly fee, but I haven't heard great things about the way they keep the course. I'm fixing to retire and would like something similar. I've been told several courses offer green fees in exchange for some part time marshalling duties. I would not mind that either. Since Turtle Hill raised their prices and I am not sure they have a month to month rate, maybe this is the best deal since it's the only deal. WinStar has gone to complete crap for the second time since I have been playing. All relative of course but there have been nothing but issues with them for more than four years. They closed the clubhouse for over a year, they destroyed the greens on of the of courses and it took a year to get them back. Now Redbud is closed. Scissortail had mounds of dirt in some of the fairways the last time I went up there (this summer). It's bad enough the weekend morning fee is only about $45 for non-VIPs when it was $90 in 2019. Lake Murray is a tougher course that is kept better and has a driving range. Their fees are similar to Gainesville but it is a one year at a time commitment I believe. I go up there when it's wet here. Gainesville is low, Lake Murray is elevated with sandy soil. That sounds like a deal depending on the course, is that a month by month or some type of longer commitment? Course is not perfect by any means. It's a municipal course. But the politics have changed over the summer and there is a lot more manpower support from the city. It will take a while to get all of the fixable issues resolved. The fee is month to month. It only went up last year. It was $100. I am part "owner" in a cart stored out there recently and I have not asked if there's a discount. I know there is no storage for other client owned carts so those that use their own trailer them. So my dad gave me a new box of golf balls to try. He’s been using them a little while and says he really likes them. I guess the guy who developed them is the same guy who helped develop the proV1’s and several others. They’re made by Snell Golf. You guys ever try them? What balls do yall like the best? I have hit Snells that I have found. I have never bought any new to use. I liked the ones I tried. I am a golf ball snob. I’ve hit Snells, and the Kirkland balls from Costco….but for the last 5 years or so have played Vice balls exclusively. The Vice Pro works best for me. Great balls around the green. I honestly can’t tell the difference between them and the ProV….except price! I played the 2nd gen Kirkland Signature Performance + golf ball exclusively for more than two straight years. They are a copy of a top tier ball made in China and there have been rumors of lawsuits (mostly because Kirkland was sued over their copycat irons). But the reason they were not available for most of 2024 seems to be because they were set to put out the gen 3 ball and it failed miserably (the few thousand that were sent out). Costco refunded anyone that asked. They took a while to try and correct production before finally deciding to re-start production of the gen 2 ball which is available again. So for most of 2024 I settled on the Vice Pro ball. Twice as much as Kirkland Signature Series 2 but less than TP5, Pro V1. Chromesoft, etc. I cannot play the Vice Pro Plus ... too hard. The Pro is good for me. Agree, play the lime Vice Pro Plus and for $38/39++ it plays like a $55++ ProV or TP5. If you buy 5 dozen of the Vice ball online direct through Vice, believe the price drops to $32.99 or $34.99 per dozen, can't recall for sure. Think the Vice off driver may be 2-5 yards shorter than ProV or TP5 but that's about only possible playability difference I see. I am not consistent enough to tell a difference in driving distance on any of them but what I cannot play is a hard-covered ball. Vice Pros are $34 a dozen at Walmart. Kirklands were $35 for TWO dozen before they ceased production ... now they're $42 for TWO dozen (I buy them off Amazon). Try Maxfli golf balls, I hit the tour X. I put them up against all the others 8n the sim and they can't be beat, especially for the price. Right now they are going for 4 dozen for $99. Search them up. I have never bought any but I have hit found Maxfli balls. I don't even keep them for over the water contests. But I bet the ones I have run across are not the Tour model ... likely whatever is their cheapest ball is what I have found and hit. Seems like they are hard and slick like a Titleist Velocity. Pretty sure the worst ball made is made by Maxfli ... the Noodle. Obviously that has nothing to do with their top line of golf balls. I guess Nitros are horrible too ... and Mojos. I also avoid any model of golf balls made by Pinnacle or TopFlite.
Pass the gravy.

I used to like their HT-100’s. Those soft balata covers would really dance on the green, but they would get chewed up pretty good by the square groves on the eye 2’s.

Scheduled to play Cowboys Golf Club tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too cold. I'm not a cool weather golfer. I appreciate a little warmth, but I just couldn't turn the opportunity down.

I have played Texas Rangers before and was invited to play Cowboys but it didn't happen yet. Take some pics and post them for us.

No pics. Didn't see your post until just now. It was not in $250 shape. I didn't pay that. I had a friend that had a voucher and it was much less, but it is a $70 green fee course in my opinion. I found it rather odd that they charge that much and the greens were just OK and some of the tee boxes were noticeably not level. The food is good but the clubhouse is pretty nondescript. Overall for the money I'd go to Watters Creek or Westridge.on Plano. Tere are better courses for the money. I shot OK on the front at 43 but lost my swing on the back and had a 51, ouch!

I only paid about $75 to play Texas Rangers. That's about my splurge limit with exception of The Bridges charging me over $100 for 18 and a bucket of balls on a Monday morning a couple weeks ago. Worst deal ever was The Tribute in the Colony June of 2021 ... $100 per head and the course was a mess.
Pass the gravy.

Funny how Maxfli balls were mentioned as my golf buddy bought be some and I tried them yesterday. He knows my swing and my preference so he chose the Tour S - CG version and I really like them. Easier to hit high and less spinny for my swing. Soft touch and feel with a good sound whether driver/wood, iron, or putter. Recommended and on sale right now - four dozen for $110. My friend is a bigger hitter and he tried the Tour X (yellow) and liked them very well too.
Pass the gravy.

Played yesterday at Stone Creek in Sherman. Fairways are just OK, greens are in good shape, price is right at $35. I shot 85 with 3 double bogies. They have an annual deal where you pay $399/year for Monday-Friday golf privleges and then $15 for cart. Seems pretty good to me. Five years from now Sherman is going to over populated with infrastructure and facilities being strained.

Thought about playing yesterday but decided not to because the ground is still to wet on the courses around here, which means cart path only and slow golf.

It was cart path only and the round wasn't too bad considering. It wasn't very crowded so no back up and waiting on holes. It does take a long time to walk all the way across the fairway only to find you didn't bring the right club. You should drive up and play one day when the weather allows. Translation, I don't like the cold.

Five years from now Sherman is going to over populated with infrastructure and facilities being strained. The last two times I played there did not go so well. Ever since the other course in Sherman closed, Stone Creek has been very crowded. Took more than four hours to play 18 the last time I was there. Soil is not conducive to turf grass in Grayson county with their black, greasy dirt that splits open during drought. Thought about playing yesterday but decided not to because the ground is still to wet on the courses around here, which means cart path only and slow golf.
Our rains came Tuesday and Wednesday so by the time Saturday rolled around, we had one CPO hole on the muni and none on Sunday. Ponds were full and the ground had some give for the first time in months. I measured 2.5" at my house over the 24th and 25th. It was cart path only and the round wasn't too bad considering. It wasn't very crowded so no back up and waiting on holes. It does take a long time to walk all the way across the fairway only to find you didn't bring the right club. You should drive up and play one day when the weather allows. Translation, I don't like the cold. I'll play when it's cold as long as the sun is out and it's not too windy. Sub-45, cloudy, and windy all together do not mix. Tee time is 12:50 today.
Pass the gravy.

I destroyed my driver yesterday. I scooted too far up in my stance to try and make sure I didn't hook it, and smacked it on my hitting enclosure .. . ![bang bang](/forum/images/graemlins/default/bang.gif)

Anyone check out the new TGL Golf League? TGL Golf League
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. 40th
