Finally ordered, looking forward to having one in my milsurp collection and taking it hog hunting. I'm planning on using the Swiss Products clamp on mount, do any of y'all have that set up? If so, what scope/rings do you use? I'm leaning towards a Leupold 2-7x33 but open to other ideas. Any other K31 tips/tricks? I don't reload yet but I'll be saving all my brass.

I don't have a K31 (definitely on the list to get), but that mount does look sturdy. A 2-7x would be good, but also a 1-4x too.

Very cool. Put on the "I want" list. Always enjoyed this guys review of guns.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I ordered from Centerfire Systems, they're all missing magazines but from what I've read the reproduction magazines work pretty well. Probably not many more batches coming over from Switzerland at this point.

Can't speak to the mount. Would love to see how it performs for you. My dad has a K31 and it is an awesome rifle. Amazing accuracy with the issue sights. I'd love to see what it can do with a scope and a good shooter. My eyesite doesn't do well with open sights anymore. We have Swedish Mausers, 1917 Enfield, 1903 Springfield, Argentine Mauser, British 303, and Mosin nagant. The K31 is more accurate than all but one of the Swedes.

You’re going to enjoy it a lot. I found one here about 7-8 years ago. One of the cleanest I’ve seen. Stock is in great shape with no evidence of use or training exercises. That said no spike marks in the wood. I found a bayonet for it on GB as well. Together with the long blade, the entire rig is a mile long. A joy to shoot and hand load for.
I see magazines on GB. A couple of “buy it now” at $94 and some more that will run out. All the same seller.
Send pics when it comes in. I’m not digging mine out for a pic but have plans to pull all my milsurps for a wipe down and a barrel clean over the holidays. Like mentioned above it’s a shooter and very accurate. Much like the Swede M38 I have as well. There’s a reason the Germans didn’t mess with those two countries. Superior steel, craftsmanship, and a lot of really well trained and excellent shots.

I put aperture sites on two of mine and they are absolute tack drivers. Even though the bore size is slightly different I shot 308 Hornady A-Max bullets through both of them for years. Never got around to buying an actual scope mount for either rifle and I'm looking forward to feedback from you concerning your experiences with a mount.

Congrats on the Swiss rifle addition. I have a K11 and a couple K31s. Of all the milsurp C&Rs I have, the Swedes, Mosin 39s, and Swiss straight pulls are by far the most accurate I own. I don't have the mount, but have heard nothing but good things about the Swiss Products mount. That is the one I would go with if I wanted to scope one of my K31s. Though I would probably prefer the BadAce Scout mount on my K11 being shorter. A hunting buddy has hunted with his K31 some and had good performance on Deer using the PPU soft point ammo, but I don't know if it is still available anymore. I regret not stocking up on it when it was plentiful and cheap. The Swiss rifles are some of my favorite rifles to shoot. If they were making that action new today, it would still cost more to make than those rifles are selling for. Every time I get one of mine out, it makes me think about selling all my centerfire bolt action Deer hunting rifles and buying one nice straight pull Blaser with a couple barrel options.

I am pretty excited to get it into action, the ease of mounting a scope and not having to use a scout scope will be nice. The Swiss Products mount lets you still use irons too. It looks like that Leupold will be the ticket, can mount close to bore but still high enough magnification to reach out there a bit. My M96 Swede is very accurate, but the scout scope makes it a little tougher to get the most out of it. Would love to get an M38 Swede some day and put a regular scope on it. I have a K98 with a regular scope but it's not in the same accuracy league. I have a Steyr M95 so have some straight pull experience, but I know the K31 is vastly superior.

Be sure to look under the buttplate. It was common practice for the last person in Switzerland who had it to put their name and address there. Some collectors have been able to make contact with the previous owners thanks to the internet. Unfortunately mine only had the original owners names and were dead ends.

Should be picking these up today from my FFL, the anticipation is killing me. I ordered one with the dark stock SKU and one with the general SKU, so we'll see what they send me. Also ordered an original magazine from Simpson, they have them for 100. I have 100 rounds of PPU SP heading in from SGAmmo as well. When was the last time a batch of Hornady/Norma/S&B commercial ammo was available? I've seen them listed here and there on sites out of stock.

Picked them up, one is a 1942 with a walnut stock, the other 1947 with a beech stock. The 1942 is in better condition, but both are fine as far as military surplus. Haven't looked for troop tags yet. Both came with original slings which is a nice bonus.

Proud Daddy right there. Not sure where you’re located but save your brass. Someone could use them or help you out.
How is the bluing. Most do stand the test of time. Superior steel I suspect.

Both have excellent bores and smooth actions. I think beech one actually has a slightly smoother action and slightly better trigger. Both have troop tags. I recommend ordering if anyone is on the fence about snagging from Centerfire Systems. I ordered scope and rings, just need the Swiss Products mount and I'll be ready to sight in.

Got it all scoped up with a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40, ready to go to the range tomorrow morning and sight it in. Taking my Kar98k as well since I put new rings on that one, should be a nice milsurp day at the range.

Outstanding! You have me considering doing same with one of mine now. Let us know how well it works out at the range. I'm curious on the cheek weld and if you think a riser might be needed for the scope height?

I'm curious on the cheek weld and if you think a riser might be needed for the scope height? Cheek weld was not a problem at all and got used to the offset pretty quick. Installing this mount took just a few minutes compared to the rear sight replacement mounts, bonus you don't have to keep track of your rear sight while it's off the rifle. I shot 4 groups with just a hair over 1 inch average at 50 yards, curious how it'll do further out and once I have more experience with it. I really liked the trigger and the action was very smooth. Hopefully I'll be able to get after some hogs with it soon too.

How does the brass eject with the scope mount on there? Any issues? My K-31 flings them straight up. Also, if you use mil-surp swiss ammo, they are berdan primed and really not easily reloadable. Although when you get into to reloading for them, they use standard .308 bullets to your desired grain weight. I reload with H4895 powder. Seems to work great in all my mil-surp guns.

Since it is offset the brass complete misses the scope. You can even still use the chargers if you want. If it was a scope with a knob on the left side though for parallax or illumination I could see there being issues. I know Swiss Products has an overbore mount that has a case deflector built in. I'll probably mainly just be shooting commercial ammo and eventually reloaded ammo with those commercial cases, I'd try some GP11 if I ever saw some affordable though. I'm mainly interested in hunting with it though so PPU soft points and hopefully Hornady and Norma load for it again sometime. Norma did a big run of nice 6.5x52 Carcano loaded ammo just recently so doesn't seem unreasonable.

One old online review I remember suggested avoiding larger bore scopes and avoiding ring designs that add extra width.

Hope your K31 continues to treat you well. The quality and precision of manufacture is likely unequalled in any other service rifle. The polished bolt, with its circular safety, reminds me of the terrifying novocaine syringes that dentists used on small children in the 1950s -- of which I was one.

I took my first deer with a 7.5 Swiss. It was the carbine, so maybe not a K31? My uncle bought it for $25 in about 1971. It cost $20 for a box of ammo. I wish I had it.

I shot the walnut stocked one at 100 yards and my best group was 2.5 inches with PPU; in the same session my M96 Swede's best group was .63 with Norma and worst was a bit worse than 2.5 with Federal, using a 2.75 power scout scope so a bit disappointing for the K31 and its 3-9x but still minute of hog/deer. I'm going to shoot the birch stock one sometime and see how it compares. It may just need more break-in and I may just need more trigger time on it. It also doesn't have the benefit of the Swede of having a wide assortment of ammo to sample so if it doesn't like PPU it's SOL until I can start reloading. Still a cool addition to the collection and a lot of fun.
