I got my dad a 300 BO upper for Christmas. Was wondering what most of yall hunt with ammo wise for hogs? Plan on using supersonic for now he did order suppressor. Will be a while before that comes in. Also looking for some Hornady 120 SST's in 6.8 SPC. Can't seem to find them anywhere. Or if can't find those what is something that is just as good. Thanks.

Quality 6.8 ammo has been hard to find for awhile now. I would suggest 110 Accubonds if you can find them. Have had years of success with them. Yesterday I shot a pretty nice Boar with it at 225 yards. Went right through the shoulders and out the other side. Dropped in his tracks.

Good luck finding AB's. Haven't seen them in 2 years. If you reload there are several places that have 120 SST bullets.
120 SST loaded ammo seems to be non existent unless you find it at a local shop. I found several places with Hornady 100 gr CX (copper) loaded ammo.

I’m about to get out of 6.8 SPC bc ammo is so hard to find unless you reload. Can’t find the 90 grain ammo anywhere.

WC ammo is top tier and priced well.

My favorite 300 BLK ammo on hogs is the Hornady 135gr FTX. Some friends prefer the 110gr Barnes Tac-tx. Subs are often not reliable.

"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

Didn’t know WC loaded 120’s. Don’t normally check that site for ammo. Price isn’t that bad for these times.
Wonder what brass they use?

Gorilla Ammo tends to have good deals on 300bo, esp supersonic stuff-- if you are running suppressed we have had good luck killing deer and pigs with 190gr sub-x from hornady.

Barnes Tac-TX is what I shoot in 300BO and it performs wonderfully on pigs and deer.

The Barnes Tac TX is highly regarded as the best. The sig 120 HT copper were cheaper and more readily available. They shoot extremely well out of my Palmetto pistol upper and have killed a couple pigs with it.

SELLIER AND BELLOT 110 PTS ammo is very accurate and reliable. Good substitute for the 120 SST ammo. I've used it on hogs and works great. The bullet is actually made by Hornady.

From what I have read the new PTS bullet (red tip) is not the same as the old green tip. It is being compared to the 110 VMax. Some people reporting poor accuracy.

Buy some to check before you load up on them. I haven't tried them. I load 120SST's.

I have a bunch of the green tip. They have been great. Didn’t know they made a red tip. The ones I tried were very accurate in 3 different rifles.

Best 300 blk load is 125 gr sst. I used to shoot fiocchi's load until I started loading my own. Seems like everything is bang, flop. I'm gonna be putting my leftover factory rounds in the classifieds whe. I go home Tuesday.

The green tip dried up 10-12+ months ago. All the new import PTS is red tip. The GrabaGun photo is a stock photo. Even the S&P page doesn't show a tip on the bullet.

I don’t know that the S&P page you are talking about. I have a hard time believing even a 110 VMAX wouldn’t be effective at 6.8 speeds but I know many people like to complain about everything, especially bullet failures in dead animals.

I wonder how many of those bullet failures are actually shooter failures? Long ago I shot hogs right behind the shoulder with a 308 and a number of them ran off before I learned my mistake. Is that a bullet failure?

I believe the standard is two holes in the animal, massive blood trail for no more than 10 feet before recovering the animal. Anything else is bullet failure.

The longest I've had ever tracked an animal was whitetail doe with a 308. Went in her shoulder and exited her neck taking out the artery in her neck. The blood trail was massive but she still went 300 yards before expiring due to lack of blood. Some individual animals are extremely tough.

110 vmax, 125 sst or 150 spp for BO. You can get the 150 up to 2k fps.
