Going to be just as cold here in SE Louisiana. This sissy boy won't be going, I hate cold weather. When it gets below 32 I am out. We use boats here in the tidal marsh and if something goes wrong you are in trouble. If I hunted agriculture fields driving up to it with a side by side might be different. Good luck if you go.

Going out to Fannin county Friday morning, luckily it's private land so we dont have to worry about the boat issue
Good luck everyone, and stay safe out there!

Good luck. If you have an open hole should do well. Today is the day to hunt over the next few days IMO. Ducks ahead of front- 30MPH winds if moving they will hammer the decoys, fish in a barrel

Hunted today...no new ducks. Just the same ones we have been seeing the last week. They decoyed pretty well, but in my experience the ducks don't like flying in 30mph winds. They tend to get to where they are going and hunker down. I bet tomorrow and Saturday are going to be good.
Well we started with a south wind and had to move blinds at 8:30. A lot of work but it was worth it. Ended up with 16 birds. Teal, Gadwalds and Widgeon.

I love a day or two after a hard cold front. Sun comes back out, still have a north wind, and any new ducks that have arrived are starting to venture out and explore their new surroundings. The day of a hard cold snap/nasty weather is GREAT only if you are right where the ducks want to be and even then the hunting got even better when the sun poked out and the winds slowed down to 15. I will be going Saturday and Sunday in southeast Texas with high hopes.
Birds are here but the dog is mad at me. Never have I worked a group of birds like I did this afternoon. Had 25 plus mallards feet down and landing in the decoys. I was so excited I missed the first two shots. Got one on the third at least. Then little while later was playing with the dog cause he did so good and looked up to stowaway twenty birds landing. Fumbled the gun trying to get it out of the blind and missed that chance too. That’s hard to admit cause I should have had a limit. But working those birds and getting them in was worth it.

We’re going out in boat. Taking 2 in case of failure in one. Short boat ride though and definitely no big water.
How was it? Were you on the water when the front hit? I was driving my truck when the front hit, blew my truck all around, can't imagine being in a boat with wind like that.
10 degrees here this morning. My marsh is frozen. Just broke open a big section and set the decoys. Back to the truck to warm up. Got about thirty till shooting time.

It probably froze over again by the time you got back.
Love those hunts- sometimes everything goes right, and others we screw up entire hunt. Movement, head up our arse, playing w dog BS w buddies, call shot early / late, and flat out missing layups
Update # 1 -And it’s a late one sorry but been busy. Arrived at the Coast Wednesday and scouted my spot if you want to call it that…However was more of a l just want to make sure this semi soft bottom with scatted shell does not turn into thigh high mud quicksand. Been here before but spots can change. Brought the rod of course and got a Mid Coast limit of Trout between 2:00 and 5:00
Thursday was a barrel burner… Friday we were an ice cube. Everything completely frozen. Hunting Christmas am at my house on my wetlands then headed out to my other place. Should be loaded up with birds….

Took 287 down form Colorado yesterday and this morning, lots of birds all along the way. All the water is frozen all the way to WF and just beyond. Cranes hitting fields near Clarendon, geese everywhere in lines and on the ground. Ducks sitting on frozen ponds. Should be great duck hunting now!
