Use the Duke’s version all the time and they work great. Small marshmallows seem to be the best bait.

I have the Dukes as well but prefer the "Z" traps. Dukes are pull up trigger and the "Z" traps are tripped by pulling up or pushing down. I am not sure about the brand you are looking at there.

Use all the time. Dry cat food or small marshmallows work like a charm.

Thanks for the responses. I should have started on them back when I just had a couple coons, now I'm infested with them. I'll pick up a few traps and get busy.

I caught over 30 with that type of trap last year. Used cheap cat food and a marshmallow. it sure has helped our turkey population. Use to only see 5 on the cameras at one feeder now we see up to a dozen at two feeders.

I set out 6 traps. I catch at least one coon every night. I use marshmallows and cat food.

They work; I really think the over population of coons is hurting all wildlife. There are hundreds everywhere. Wear gloves; they carry many diseases.

They work well. If you attach your trap chain to something solid, some of the bigger coons will pull their foot out so tie off to a limb with some flex will help for those big ones. If the traps stay set for a long time, the springs will get weaker and coons can escape easier. Note: I've only experienced weak springs on some of my traps that are 7-10 years old and paid for themselves many times over.

I have a handful and use when I start seeing more raccoons than deer on my cams. Last year I cleared a bunch out in the Spring and will get busy again now that season is over.

I have a couple dozen. Just about time to start setting them out again. Love walking up to the pen first thing in the morning and have 4 or 5 of these bastards caught up, awaiting to become buzzard food.

I lost one to a coon once because not being staked down good. 5 days later he came back with my old trap and caught him with the other hand. I was happy to get my trap back but more amazed that he hadn't got himself hung up somewhere and died.

I lost 2 Duke's that way, too. They have to be attached to hog panels, t-post, or feeder legs. I thought I had some deep rebar stakes that were freestanding, but obviously not deep enough.

Every time we set these traps out (with some mini marshmallows inside), we catch coons. They work like a champ!

Well crap my end of year trail cam trapeze footage reveals that there is a 5 coon circus there every night. In fact all four feeders seemed to have there own little feeder parties. First thing I am going to do is get some good spotlights and hunt the trees along the creek. Steel number twos out of my 12 gauge or a 22 magnum if you will hit the tree for sure. I haven't been as lucky with marshmallows as some but peanuts, almonds seem like great baits to me. Anyway this all starts again in a few days.

Great reminder. I need to get my traps baited again on my next trip. I have 2 attached to the feeder legs and another 6 attached to the hog panels between the feeder and the tree line. Love pulling up in the morning to 4or 5 trapped coons!

Wonder how they make them dog proof
A dog's foot usually won't fit inside the tube so they can't get caught unless they are a really small dog.

I bought 2 new traps to replace the 2 I lost. Set the traps on Friday, on Saturday I found that I caught a paw. Robo coon chewed his own leg off!

That and the Duke's have a one-way trigger which requires an animal to pull the trigger. Since dogs cannot articulate their paw like a coon can, it's pretty hard for a dog to get trapped. For others like Z-Traps (my favorite), they have a two-way trigger, push or pull, you cannot technically call them dog proof.

Duke's all the time as stated before small marshmallows or dry cat food work best. I've caught them before with a paw in 2 different traps.

Lost one set in soft ground after the rain put it under water.
Another foot.
Bingo. They always bite the end of that 22 air rifle. poof.
That makes 9 for the week + one foot and one lost trap.
One shot is all it should take.

I sprinkle small marshmallows around the trap. Put a big one down the trap. Very effective at our place in East Texas. Don't forget to tie it down with a swivel in the chani two would be better.

Man - interesting trap you have there. I've not use done before but going to look into this. We never run out of these things....they reproduce faster than I can thin them out.

I only found one brand of DP trap that was iffy. If I remember the name I will post it.
But corn works great, it is right there at the feeder and it is what they came for. We are well over 400 coons on just corn.
