Do you still hunt Coleman county?

No sir I don't. After 23 years, last year was the end...And I doubt if I will be fortunate enough to lease from another person as good as he was.

Saw my only deer this afternoon hunt with about 20 minutes of shooting light left, a nice 4-4.5 yo 8 pt. with fairly heavy whiteish colored horns, long points and pretty wide, maybe 17-18". Would guess a upper 120s to low 130s deer. Had he been 1-2 years older, I may have done more than look at him.

I hate hearing that, I always enjoyed your live hunts.
We had one in Gillespie county for 22 years, then they turned it over to the kids and that was the end, I know what your going through.
I’m fortunate to own my own properties now and enjoy taking the grandkids.

Ended up seeing 3 does and a 6 pt after we got in the stand.
He was running a doe.
The other grandson saw a doe, still a ton of acorns here.

My dad let the biggest deer he’s ever seen on our place walk this morning. My brother has been hunting him, so I guess that’s why he let him walk. First time he’s been seen in day light.

Today was one of our heavier days seeing deer around feeders. Had 15 this morning and 12 this evening. Kiddos thinned out a few does. High fenced place next to me has some large food plots and deer were stacked up all day grazing.

Been running a camera since July, had 2 new bucks come in today

Me and two grandsons are hunting Leon county again this morning, we haven’t taken a deer here this year and only took a spike last year.
Bucks were running does yesterday so we will see.
I don’t know how much more we will hunt here this year, I’m going on an invited high fence hunt next weekend, and the grandsons are chomping at the bit wanting to go to Coleman county, after we got the new camp house built I am too.

Nice 9pt with broken brow working around my feeder pen hard, scenting up the place. With cold temps in store late next week, I'd guess secondary rut will be revved up.

A doe went to the feeder this morning, first deer I seen at a feeder since youth weekend here in Leon county.

North stand this morning, about 1.7 miles from where I was yesterday afternoon. 6 bucks, one old management 8pt, one mature jacked up 10pt, 3yr old 10pt and four 1.5yr olds. Along with 7-8 slick heads. Nothing I haven't seen before.

Thats a pretty good hunt. I would say your spoiled. I know the feeling. Thanks for the updates(other guys as well.)

East side of the ranch this morning and sorta slow. 10pt, 4pt, spike and 3 Does...so far.

Took a couple of hunts off, hot, chores and Dr. appointment. In my wheat field stand this afternoon, Haven't sat here since Friday afternoon. Let's see what shows. Cloudy and cool enough.

Something strange this year. I've missed a total of 8 hunts (4 days) since rifle season opened. I have yet to see a coyote or bobcat, which is extremely odd for my place. Guess drought was tough on everything

A little fog this morning, sitting in east stand. Two 10pts, 8pt, couple of small bucks and a handful of does. Rut action barely visible. Older bucks just want to eat.
