Below is directly from the Grapevine website. They have now dropped the draw system for this year. We as the hunters need to do our part this year to ensure that we continue to have a place to hunt next year. They will have a new program in place for next year. Lets do everything we can to help get rid of the problems out there. If you see something report it. I talked with a Ranger at the Grapevine office yesterday for a while. They do want to manage the deer population. They want Grapevine to be a great place to hunt. They admit that the new program did not account for other hunters. If you see someone doing something wrong educate them or report them. If you see stands or feeders report them. Show them that we to take pride in hunting Grapevine and we are on the same page. Please obey the rules, tread lightly and help out everyone else.
WOW!, thats a shock, the complaints must have been overwhelming. I will say this guys I don't hunt this place but do hunt other COE property, and you guy (hunters) need to organize pronto and have a round table discussion and work with the corp of engineers on developing a suitable permit system for both the hunters and the conservation of that place. Let them know the hunters want protect and make it a better safer place. Due to the human population density around that lake there probably does need to be a lottery system of some sorts but it should not be resticted to such a small number as it was this year. Good news to hear BTW.
