Took the 1947 K31 to the range yesterday and at 100 yards it shot a 1.25" group as its best and 1.75" group as its worst, so much better than the 1942 one. It'll be in the hog hunting rotation soon. It's much more dinged up and rusty than the 1942 one so I won't feel as bad if it picks up another scratch or two. The 1942 one is better as a collection piece.

Ok, I finally got my K31 out of the safe for pics. The previous owner tastefully refinished the stock. The metal is nearly perfect. I found a bayonet on gunbroker after some searching. Man that thing it’s long! It also appears the OP and my spouse has the same taste in rugs. Hah!
I did a double take when I saw your pictures, thought they were mine until I saw the bayonet. I'll need to acquire a bayonet sometime, need a Mannlicher M95 bayonet as well. Took my K31 out again today coincidentally, got consistent .625 inch group at 50 yards, ready for hog hunting now.

Got my first two-fer with the K31, hit them at 220 yards with a PPU 174 grain soft point. One was stone dead pretty quick, took another shot at the other to make sure it stayed down. Shot another loner earlier at about the same distance and pretty sure it was a lethal lung shot, he went off into swamp though so no confirmed kill. All in all great first performance.

That’s an awesome field report. Bet you can’t wipe the smile off your face.

That looks like the Badace rear sight mount, I think the Swiss Products mount is better since you can still use iron sights if you want. The K31 is definitely the easiest to put a scope on without modifying gun of the various milsurps, nice not having to use a scout scope either. The Swiss Products mount is hard to beat since you're not taking anything off the rifle, just adding something and that something can be easily and quickly removed if need be. It also sits lower than the Badace mount. I do have a Badace mount like on my Kar98k. it is nice, just a bit high but the snipe Kar98ks had their scopes mounted pretty high too.
When I go hog hunting at my uncle's where the range is almost always 230-330 yards, I choose rifle mostly based on wind speed: 0-5: Kar98k or 6.5 Grendel AR 5-10: K31, Mosin-Nagant, Remington 700 30-06 10+: M96 Swedish Mauser
The Mosin has been going out a lot lately since it's the only one in its windspeed category to not bag a hog, haven't seen any with it out yet. Once I get one with the Mosin the K31 will probably get the most use in that category.
