What do you mean by "brass chewed up"?

I suggest you rule out an ammo issue before you mod the bbl.. Do you have a case gage to ck your ammo in?

COLs
110gr V-MAX 2.250"
125gr TNT 2.250"

Good question (though nobody wants the problem). Like with Wilson Combat factory loads, mine runs 2.250-2.255". Like every other problem I suggest you start with the simple, cheap and easy things. Is it the magazine (happened to me)? Try another one. Take the upper apart and check/clean everything. Run some factory TNT's thru it and see if the problem persists.

What powder and charge are you running?

IME the TNT's feed is as close to perfect as you'll ever find. 2.200" is shorter than I've ever tested so running them up to 2.250 is a good idea. Please let us know how things progress.

"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

I have case gage that I got from Wilson Combat. Ammo checks fine. I can put my finger in the mouth of the chamber and it is rough. Not shooting but just manually running a bullet the brass comes out scratched up. If you load from the mag some were actually dented. This brass/bullets were pristine before cycled thru the gun.

Is this a WC bbl or other brand?

Sorry to butt in, but my Wilson Combat 16" Recon barrel was scratching my brass like that as well. I found that the lugs were very sharp and rough from machining. I thought it was just normal so I carefully used a Dremel with polish and smoothed the corners so it wouldn't destroy brass.

The feed ramps were also very sharp with burs, after some polishing, I had no more issues.

They'll take care if it. But I've never seen such a thing from their manufacturing. Do you happen to have a borescope? Can get them fairly cheap, would be interesting to pics of the chamber.

David I have borescope ordered but it won’t be here until next week. I tried taking a picture but you can’t see where the rough part is. You can definitely feel sharp edges/burrs on the back edge of the loading ramp

Oh ok, so you're only talking about the feed ramp. Is it the transition from the upper receiver to the feed ramp that is sharp? You can separate your upper from the lower, remove your bolt and charging handle and take a picture from the bottom.

I tried but they are on the back side of the flutes. Pictures don’t show where they are but you can definitely feel them. I have 4 other AR’s in different calibers and none of them are rough like this.
I am sure Wilson will take care of the problem. It is packaged up waiting on a shipping address.

I hope this isn't too off topic but can you outline the differences between the various models of 300 HAM'r rifles that you offer? I know you can customize them any which way a person wants but for example on your website I see currently listed the following:

Recon Tactical

Protector Carbine

Protector Elite Carbine

Ranger

Of the ones listed there is nearly a $600 price range from the least to most expensive. What are the differences between the models - Is it just the barrel or are there other differences?

This right here!!

Needs to be noted and APPLAUDED!!

I have bought three 300 Ham'r barrels and just received a 308 Win barrel. Flawless pieces. Customer service like this is rare and precious. A lot of companies talk the talk but WC walks it. Any firearm related parts under my roof will have the WC stamp. Just wish I'da learned this sooner.

Thank you WC!

My .308's are about to riot and sue for nonsupport. The 300 HAM'R has totally taken over the NC mountains.
Tomorrow is the last day of our rifle deer season and I will be in the woods all day. So will be my Wilson AR in 300 HAM'R, but it won't be alone. So far this season my little group have taken (3) 8pt., (1) 10pt. and (1) 6pt. and only one of those deer was shot with something other than the 300 HAM'R.
Four were shot with Wilson/Rugers bolt guns (including my 8t.). Three were shot with the Speer 130 HC and one with the Lehigh Defense 110CC.

We may not have the biggest deer, but there is no doubt that Benny is proud of his 10pt.!
