That is better than I would score. I used to play in a low stakes money game, drink beer, and solve global problems with a good group of buddies twice a month for a couple decades. The game got damn personal for a while. I got my handicap down to 4 and kept it there for a couple years. Deaths and Life eventually split the group up and I have not picked my clubs up in a couple of years. I think I probably could still hit the ball but doubt I could play in the 80’s today. The few great shots you hit are the ones you remember. Hitting misses that don’t get you in trouble and playing a decent short game is the game I tried to play. A 52 degree Cleveland gap wedge and a 50 year old bullseye putter influenced my score card the most of any clubs in my bag.

Same here, the three amigos I spoke of in the first post played just about every week for four years. We had some good times back in the day. It was good to get the old band back together.

I thinking I might have to upgrade my clubs..... the technology in my bag is pretty dated.

Had a 7 handicap at one time. Cervical fusion shot it up to a 22 and I lost interest. Short game is the key to low scores so start a 6 inches and work your way out to a three wood. Throw the driver away. Last bit of advice--work on the short game.

On my best day, I might hit 95. When I play, its typically with my bother who is a decent golfer. He is a former college baseball player and extremely competitive. I guess I got the good looks and he got the talent. Let's just say, I have never remotely come close to out driving him. Any way, several years ago I managed to ace a hole, nothing but blind [censored] luck. I never miss an opportunity to bring it up when I can. Every time, he gets as red faced as he did 15 years ago when I hit it. It hurts his competitive pride to know his older brother has something sports related that he may never have.

Greatness!

I always till this day bring up to my buddy one time he was playing out of his mind. He was on his way to shooting a 75, all the way up till the 15th hole or so...... he had gotten himself into a little trouble, and I told him just to pitch it out and take his lumps........ but no he went all Phil Mickelson, and proceeded to shoot a 6 over 10 on that hole. It was like watching a train wreck. So so sad, because it would of been his first time in the 70s..... he ended up shooting an 85 or so. ahhh good times.

Ahhh the trials and tribulations of golf; my greatest love hate sports relationship. Nearly had my single most highlight on the golf course last week at Iron Horse, #7 hole during a corporate fundraiser tournament. Hit driver to 2' over creek, 295 yard hole. At my age the highlights are mostly in my rear view mirror but that was a fun shot for sure. For the record, I'm always pulling for my fellow golfer but just pulling a bit more for myself to meet the call.

Hunter my wife had a serious stroke about 5 years ago so I am her full time care giver which doesn’t leave me much time to play now.

Machinist, I am so sorry to hear about your wife’s stroke. You are a good man. Way way more important than golf.

As for golf, I was, at best, just Ok. Think of my game as a bag of sand that has a small hole in it. Every year, less sand, til finally it was all gone. Gave away my clubs to a granddaughter’s BF and kept the golf balls for swinging targets on the 100 yard range.

One golf tip for you guys. If you are ever playing at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and putting on the green below the mountainside statue of Jesus, the putt breaks away from Jesus. Doesn’t look like it will, but it does (unless they redid the green).

Not my monkeys, not my circus...
