Spent an hour looking for arrowheads Sunday afternoon after a weekend of work at the ranch. I love finding intact small points like this one, Ideas on what it is are gladly welcomed.

l'm pretty sure that is a Scallorn type point. Fairly common, about 500-1000 yrs old

Thanks I’ll check into that. It came from Webb Co. I had put it as a Caracara but I’m by no means an expert

Amazing points all. up I have to put more time in looking. I've yet to find anything with even a notch on it on this ranch.

Nice point. Hard to say exactly what it might be.

Caracara would indeed occur in that narrow area where normally found and I agree that it appears to have been made as a Side Notch point (Scallorn's are corner notched with a deliberate attempt at making them barbed).

Hard to place it exactly....but a very nice find. up

One of the most common points found in South Texas is the 'Tortugas' (and Matamoros)....both simple triangular points with no notches.

So common on some ranches along the Rio Grande that we wouldn't even pick them up unless they were an exceptional example.

But always keep an out....you never know what you'll find.

I have found several like that between Cotulla and Freer along the Nueces River.
Beautiful find.
Adios,
