Good job. Always disassemble and clean and reassemble the OEM carb. Always does the trick.

I hate dealing with carbs. Congrats on getting it fixed!

Thanks. And the aches and pains from bending over and crawling around and disconnecting and reconnecting are about faded. That was necessary, but NOT fun.

What he said.

I once had the same problem until I decided to check the carb just to see if any fuel was left in the bowl after turning off the gas and allowing the engine to run dry. I would say at least two tablespoons of fuel drained out after I opened the float bowl drain screw. I have always made it a point to drain the bowl in both of my ATV's before storing them for any length of time and haven't seen the problem since. In fact, I now do the same with any small engine that has a drain screw on the float bowl. And if it doesn't have a drain screw, such usually the case with lawn mowers, I'll remove the bowl and empty it by hand. And I should add that using fuel stabilizer DID NOT keep the problem from occurring before I started draining the float bowl. The idle jet is probably much smaller in diameter than a needle and will clog up with even the least amount dried fuel residue.

I would not be surprised if the problem you describe is not the #1 problem that small engine repair guys fix most often.

Fortunately the carb on my Polaris is easy to get to and repair. I have had to do several rebuilds on it. Mostly needle valves. The fun repair is the starter. You have to pull the flywheel on one side and clutch on the other. Then you have to crawl underneath it and drop the skid plate.
