Again thanks for all of the comments and ideas - we have someone who will deliver water the same day - we will move forward this season to see how it goes -

Reason for the post was to show just how bad the situation is in STex - lifting 1500 lbs of water out with a rope and bucket is pretty impressive - believe me we will adapt and carry on but it will not include hauling our own water in - I have no problem with those who do so but does not work for our group -

I leave a case of water bottles at camp. If they need the water, they can have it. It could save a person's life, including a child's.

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

Just leave a case of water or two, and maybe they won't mess with the tanks.

we do that and they go through it in a day or two - the traffic through the ranch is heavy and consistent even though border patrol and DPS are everywhere

The more you do for them the worse it gets. It is just like welfare. The more they get the more they want. Pretty soon the word gets out and you are like a light at the end of the tunnel. Except there is no train. What is the answer? I wish someone knew.

I agree - so the cartel and coyotes are getting paid to bring these families across and along the way the women (and YOUNG children) are raped and sometimes left to die. Meanwhile our federal government is using all of their efforts to raid a former USA presidents home - Sad Sad Sad

I wonder if some faux voodoo crap hanging around the camp would have an effect? I've got a baboon skull that I put a turkey beard on the back and I painted the eye sockets day-glo orange. It was to scare deer away, but I'd be glad to loan it to you. Cedar stick goes up through the neck bone socket. A la the original Planet of the Apes type stuff. grin Add a few wind chimes in the trees. Maybe a fake grave or two. Or, just dig about 6 separate swipes with a backhoe bucket and backfill loosely. cool 'Just thinking outside the box. up

That's actually a pretty good idea.

The more [censored] up and creepy the better.

He is referring to an earlier post I made about finding underwear hanging in the brush - we have not seen any in camp but it is all over the ranch in the brush -

Just think how many people it would take to use / need 1,500 gallons of water. Would not think most would leave with more than one gallon containers of water each.

Mathis was common place down in South Texas. Really weird the first couple of times then you come to expect it.

I know you've said "can't", more than once...We have towed a small flat bed with a 330 gallon water "tote" on it...to the lease for the weekend, or week, or however long some were going to be there, and then towed back home...Refilled with the hose and ready to go next trip...or filled in town and then go back...never been told no, you can't run the hose from the back of the service station...if we weren't going, then someone else came by and got the rig...330 gallons weighs right at 2600 or so pounds. So, (1) 3500 lb axle handles the load. We rig ours with a 12 bilge pump connected to a 12 battery with a small solar panel. Self contained and can also be used for horseback trail rides, filling troughs out in the hay patch for cows, etc. Tanks last several years, longer if kept in the barn out of the sun.

Know a few guys that have their water tanks buried. They are disguised as a septic with one way valves for incoming and outgoing with a pump below outgoing. Quick connects, 12v battery and will fill up campers with hose and back into water if not used. Another has his buried with an old oil field wellhead over the top his. Oil field area (Neither have ever been discovered) lots of foot traffic on both ranches. They tear up surrounding supplies.

Those are some good ideas.
