But life 360 does more, one click I get a map and see where my whole family is, and I do like to always know where they are, especially my daughter. I can also click on one of my kids, and get a driving report, shows me every where they have driven, top speed, if they did any hard breaking…

I also use it after a bike ride, see where I road, how many miles, top speed etc..

One time camping I lost my phone, was able to borrow another campers phone, called my wife, she told me exactly where it was.

If you use a spot or in reach you can hit 1 button and lay there in your life vest, mud hole, broke leg or whatever and rescue is in the way. If you really are concerned I’d look into it. I use a spot when back country hunting for my wife’s peace of mind. It tracks my movements and I can push a button giving her the ole thumbs up as often as I like.

You might want to do some research on that in reach. Guys attacked by a Grizzly in AK hit the button right after attack. Another guy had a sat phone and called the Coast Guard. Coast Guard had them air lifted out before the first responders on the in reach had any idea of what was going on, location, and then determining to call Coast Guard for rescue.

The Inreach sos is still very functional, I popped it hot on accident in CO. They tried communicating back with me but obviously I didn’t realize I had popped it off. They tried calling my wife she didn’t answer so called next emergency contact to gain information on me. They where watching my location and pace. Bad rain storm was coming in and I was booking it out. Finally got a hold of my wife and she let them know I wasn’t by my self. The whole thing was about hour. Once I figured out I tripped it back at the truck I was able to cancel it. I literally canceled as the SER was gearing up. If I’d been stationary they said they would of went in immediately

From looking at the SOS text time line they responded in under 2 min. and I was in heavy trees.

Yelp, from all the research I’ve done from on Rokslide reviews and pod cast all comes down to satellite availability to link up, even on same network. Guys have said they couldn’t get their Iridium phones to work but could get Inreach and vice versa next day

I keep my Inreach in my truck, when not using it, it has features that a Sat phone doesn’t, like live tracking, etc. Think they both work as they are designed but are functional very different. Inreach does seam to have lag, especially with cover over head. I’ve put my Inreach in my sun roof before incase my truck gets stolen.

Been using an Inreach I think 7 years now. Mines the original pre-Garmin acquisition

Not that expensive to rent and not that expensive to use. I've done it several times traveling out of the US

I was referring to Bobo paying the fees for search and rescue to make a dry run

Its like snow sking, you should have ski patrol on speed dial, not 911, because all they do is call the ski patrol, they can flounder around trying to find that number and having them in between communicating type of injury and location etc...can waste a lot of time. Do this not necessarily for yourself, but if someone else gets injured or is in trouble and you are trying to help. This actually happens a lot, someone breaks a leg, multiple people stop to help, one person calls 911, the other calls ski patrol, by the time 911 gets thru ski patrol is already all over it.

62 here & still can't get enough waterfowling. Can't wait for my 16 day run on early teal. I hunt mostly public now as I have let all my leases go. I do pay more attention to things than I used too ,but still run like I am 18.

Think In Co is covered with that nice little license tax/fee.

The moral of the story is if you are concerned about your safety I would not depend on a cell phone. I would want something waterproof and connected to the outside of my waders if I was worried about getting stuck in the mud, falling out of the boat you name it.

Being thrown from the boat. Floating. Digging my cell phone of out my waders out of its water proof case and calling my wife or some dingbat on the 911 call and explaining to them with my redneck land marks and creek names.

I would be better off with my gps coordinates going directly to search and rescue.

Don't plan on quitting anytime soon got into chasing snows this past season and that's what I'm really after now. We had a good season. We ended up with just about 200 birds for the season. Gonna try and get my papa on his first snow this year I believe he's 76 now I could be wrong on that but I know I'm close! But I do hunt private 100% now. We don't ever just smash the birds really but we have fun.

I have almost faded away from duck hunting though i miss it for sure. I lost my dog about 5 years back and I am turning 70 soon. My son moved to Colorado and my main hunting partner kind of lost interest in duck hunting.. I would still go by myself if i could find a lease or club around lake Fork. . I just can't handle the public scene and a boat is kind of risky for a an older solo hunter. I have tried to find a lease around here and tried to buy property or join a club.. it's just getting too difficult all around. I have contacted a local guide so maybe that will work out... I am a little disappointed that some of the boys i took when they were young haven't felt inclined to take the old man a couple of times a year .. but they have their friends and family commitments.. I may well be done.. I'll just hang out at the launch a see how they did and pet the dogs..

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who has quit hunting ducks and geese after their dog passed. Had to put mine down too early in his life and it tore me up. Had two dogs prior to him but none ever equaled his desire or character. Miss the hunting but still miss the dog more.

Quit in 2015. I got tired of Killing stuff. Rather eat out than clean and cook. Duck hunted from 1975 to 2015 all on Lake Texoma. Have not missed it. If the hunting up here stayed like the 1980's and 90's, I might have kept hunting.

Ahh Yea Doing Great. Spent 10 years racing 100-mile foot races all over the World. Saw lots of interesting places. Met lot of neat folks. Retired from racing in June. Guiding Hikes at Lake Murray State Park now, Running my Family Business. 50 - 60 miles of Hiking and grooming trails every week. Eat, drink anything I want. LOVE it.

Thats me. I don't miss the mud or the New guys with new boats and new trucks that can't park off the boat ramp.

I’ve started messing around in your old stomping grounds as I moved up near Sherman. I’ve rarely found enough huntable birds to get me excited. I’ve found a good wood duck hole. That mud is indescribable. Had a barrel burner in it once last season and swore I’d never do it again. Ever

I'm still hanging in there. Grew up hunting Lake Proctor and the peanut fields in the 70s. Lake Whitney and fresh flooded timber, when lake raised the lake level. Really spoiled back then. It was a poor mans' hunt. not all that competitive. Recently acquired another lab and reenergized me. No more public hunting or 100 decoys. Just me and my dog, a dozen decoys maybe a buddy. Small stock tanks on deer lease near Throckmorton. Keeping the dream alive.
