We have a “sticks and fins” fireworks ban, not sure why they didn’t ban them all. Guy across the road is a city move in. He not only is sending those little spinners across the road to my place he has a fire going, what an idiot. Just when I was getting ready to call the Sheriff’s office a deputy pulled up and hit them with the spotlight. The deputy warned them on the fire danger and that was it. Going to have some words with the neighbors tomorrow when they aren’t all boozed up.

It is super dry. I live on 30 acres and have a 1 acre gravel parking lot we have set fireworks off of every year for the past 12 years with no issue. This evening something caught our neighbors field on fire. I know it was our fault as no one else was setting off fireworks near us. Thankfully three of the guests I had over are firefighters and we jumped the fence and got it put out with only an area about the size of a house burned but it could have been a lot worse. Location? Lubbock county. Fires are fires but fires around here are not near as bad as they are in ranch country. There is no brush virtually everything was farmed at one point. If there is a fire it is in CRP grass or weeds and it won’t go far before it hits a cotton field.
