I had to renew my electricity contract.
The best rate I can find for my area is double
what I have been paying

I had been paying a bit over 9 cents a KWH including
taxes and TXU charges

Now the best I can find is 19.5 cents per KWH

I live in the middle of the metro-mess,
Are other areas this high?

Locked mine last summer for 3 years at 8.9. The TXU person told me to just do 1 year and see if it's lower next time....I said, Nope, it's only going up, lock me for as long as possible, so I'm good until 2024 woot

Next time the power goes out for a day or two during a severe storm remember this rate hike and when someone screams about more oversight and regulation punch them in the mouth. It’s not the governments job to have you prepared for not having electricity

Just saw our renewal this week. We had been paying 7.5 cents and the cheapest I saw in our area was 14.5

They want all your money. Your savings, your 401, even your social security.
This is how they will get it.
Flood the economy with bogus money forcing everything to be much more expensive.

That freaking ridiculous. Mine would be over $700 a month at those rates. I am moving to the lease. $50 for the year.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but I sure wish last year when I signed up for 3 years, I would have went with the 5 year contract. Now, I don't expect to see the price do anything but go up continually from now on.

I guess I shouldn't complain because at least I get 2 more years before the big increase. Now I see why the wind generator just across the fence is repaired and back in service now after sitting idle and broke down for the last 6 months. Those door to door guys peddling "100% green energy" need those windmills running!

What I want to see is the separate transmission lines that they send that green electricity from west Texas back to the Metroplex and how they keep it all seperated going to peoples houses so it doesn't get mixed in with that nasty brown electricity that comes from a power plant. roflmao

I called my provider right after the Deep Freeze of 2020 and renewed for three years so I'm good until March of next year. I took the offer of 9 cents per kWh and ran with it. I remember the agent telling me that was far below what they were offering those who had been hung out to dry after buying their electricity through a market rate wholesale provider.

You definitely want to call and negotiate because most people take one of the higher rates posted online and move on without ever having spoken with a soul.

That's good advice. I called them and talked to them after checking prices online. I also checked with some friends using them as to their satisfaction since I was a new customer at that time. Ease of doing business along with the live person thing that didn't take 15 minutes of punching buttons then 45 minutes on hold counts for something to me.

About 6 months ago signed for 24 month program at 9 cents.

Didn't know it doubled.

We were just talking about this at work yesterday…I’m on a co-op so I treat it about like gas in the truck, shut my eyes and pay it. I did look it up and we paid .10 kWh which according to power to choose, is a smoking deal.

I was pleasantly surprised…the guy I was talking to is Garland power and light and he was paying .09.

I’m on a co-op also. So it is what it is. My highest bill this year was this month. $213.00

We are on co-op power and have no choice in the matter. We are around .10 range.

Property taxes and electricity rates make us happy to be full-timers. But no doubt we pay the man in other ways.

About 6 weeks ago, I locked in 10.4 for 3 years... Feeling kind of smug right now, but I was pissed at the time, because it was up from 8.9
