bs Dad was born in '18 and Mom was born in '21. Dad was a WWII Vet. I realize what those young men did, and, what the women that held the fort at home did. No way I think my generation (our Senior Class song was "Dust in the Wind") is better than "The Greatest", and the thought that my generation is greater than my kids has never crossed my mind. I'm not too proud to learn from my kids. Now, a son-in-law always thinks he's smarter than a father-in-law. That's just the way things are. Sometimes they are. Sometimes they're #$%^&* clueless, at least in certain areas.

Interesting…John Hadl was our quarterback a few times during the off season.

Miss those days and all the great things listed here.

Almost every yard in your neighborhood had one or more trees with editable fruit - apple, orange, fig, persimmon, peach, apricot, tangerine, etc. And many had pecan trees.

Every kid said, "yes sir", "no sir", "yes mam" or "no mam" when replying to adults.

There were hardly any overweight kids.

The F-word was hardly ever heard.

There were ads like, "More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette". lol444

And so, so much more.

Born in 56 life was fun in the 60's every outdoor adventure that could be had was, to much fun living life and having good old fashioned fun cheers
The F Bomb was dropped all of the time along with every other nice four letter word growing up in the Cliff, we also thought we knew every mexican cuss word out there rofl
Our kids were able to enjoy a lot of what we did (minus the Riffraff chit), I hope if they have kids, they will be able to experience lifes simple pleasures up

I remember my parents and my grandparents actually sitting and talking to other people. Someone would say something and the other people would be silent and listen. Then someone else would say something and the others would listen. It would go on for over an hour.

If the phone rang after 9pm it darn well better be an emergency! Always a container of used bacon grease on the stove. Milk was in 1gal glass jugs and later 1/2gal wax paper containers which were perfect for freezing fish.

Born in 42. Polio came along in about 47. I caught it but had a mild case.

We learned about firm handshakes and to look a man in the eye at an early age.

Fist fights came pretty easily but hard feelings didn’t last long.

Damn sure learned the difference in perspiration and sweat.

I didn’t vote because your poll is flawed.

Good memories, didn't know what shorts were, mom called them cutoffs.
Came home from school or town and off came the good jeans (only had 3 pair) and put on play clothes. In the winter our jeans got washed and put on creasers (look like WalterDrake Pants Stretchers) and set over the floor furnace to dry as we didn't have a close dryer.

Born in 56. We drank water out of a water bucket we filled with rainwater from a cistern is just one of the things we had to do growing up. Outhouse was also not on the list. I don't feel like typing all the things I could add to those posted above.

Creek has it right about our generation and his comments on our predecessors. Never ever considered ourselves to be greater than the "Greatest Generation". That ended up putting us in a tough spot as we in our generation failed with the next one. Bobo and Hogslayer comments about being GenXers and better than the previous generation (us), speaks volumes. I would never, even jokingly, say that about my parents' generation. That may well be a huge issue. We, yes we, created a monster and now get to deal with it. What's worse is parenting appears to have gotten even more out of whack.
