I've found a few fish in my lifetime, but always something to learn.

Took my knuckle draggers perching again last weekend, caught 65 in 2 hrs.

When kids are little and get super excited about catching a fish, that’s a trophy to me.

My baby girl is almost 8, and she refused to let me help her this trip. She baited her own hook, and took every fish off of the line by herself. My mini me. She wants to kill her first deer so bad, it will happen this year.

I’ve never been on a guided trip. I learn places even if I’m only there for a day or two. There are times that I bring nothing home, other times I have more than I realistically want to clean!
Has the art of finding fish gotten lost, or are there just to many lazy people with money?
One exception, offshore saltwater fishing as many cannot afford the boat to do so or justify the price for a here and there trip. I would fall into this category, only times I’ve been was when invited.

It depends. Kind of hard to find fish when you can only go a couple of times a year.

I can count on my fingers, how many fishing trips I have made in the last two years. Hardest part is I moved to Missouri two years ago and had to start all over. But I did manage to find some good spots. Google maps is your friend.

The only thing stopping me from taking a guided trip, is I don’t have a weekend to dedicate to it. If I am gonna spend that money I want time to enjoy it.

You can laugh at my boy, I don't care lol. He's a good kid and too smart for his own good, but like a baby giraffe. Big feet, long legs, he is awkward playing sports especially when running. Loves baseball.

I give him hell, in a nice way, roflmao

Hopefully they stop at some inshore rigs on the way back in and y’all can add to the snapper count! Know a guy going next weekend that invited me, but the boat doesn’t stop at state rigs. Not worth it to me!

No guide, fished the Gulf since the early 90’s. BIL bought a new boat, know lots of spots but always learning. I spent 4 years as a deck hand on party boats and private charter boats, some of the best days of my life. Miss those days, and miss my boat. Pretty awesome my BIL pulled the trigger on this one.

You're "sitting in the cat bird seat" right there. None of the responsibilities with all the fun. It's like you have "staff" to take care of it. Well done! up

Haha! I was really glad to see you’ve taught them how to properly use a spinning reel!

Very nice offshore boat.

What? I didn’t see where he said that. It’s only useful with crappie, and you won’t find a crappie tournament fisherman without one, or a crappie guide.

All it is is like a real-time downscan. This was my setup before livescope…

I wouldn’t say it’s ruining crappie fishing, you could find schools of fish and structure prior, but bass fishing. It gives someone the ability to follow a single giant bass around throwing at it until you tick it off enough to attack, that’s just not right. But, I guess that means someone “found a fish” roflmao

I do not bass fish much, but I can’t imagine chasing one fish around with live scope, thats like chasing I wild pig around in the woods at night with a flashlight.

I did a crappie guided trip few years ago with legendary crappie guide Ernest Paty. I did the trip to learn, not to catch fish. I pretty much watched him fish the whole time and just asked questions. We catched and released all fish.

Chasing and tryin to kill a pig helps the environment! Chasing down a giant bass and either donating it to share lunkers, or anything else does not help the body of water. It doesn’t do anything except ruin a fishery because none of these fish get put back into the lakes they came from! It’s seldom the lake they came from gets stocked with offspring from said bass as well!

Once a lot more people have livescope, I do believe there will be lower populations of crappie/whites/hybrids as well.
It will only be a matter of time. That is not an immediate threat as of now.

I assumed the same about livescope impacting numbers. Someone pointed this study to me.

Don’t trust anything coming out of Arkansas, and it’s to early to make a ruling!
