Hitting the road this weekend for 21 days. Heading to Grand Teton then YS, Glacier, back to YS then to Mt Rushmore. Any pointers or must does?

There was a neat little pizza place on Jackson Lake next to the boat ramp/marina. Just north of Teton Park, Pelican Bay. Pre Covid, hopefully it’s still there.

Always wanted to go there have a great time but it looks like I'll never make it. Don't wait if you want to do things there will come a time you won't be able to for one reason or another.

Do Mt. Rushmore during the day, then go back for the after dark program.
Going out the NE gate of YS, head north out Hwy 212 and go over the Beartooth Pass/Chief Joseph scenic hiway. Then head back south into Cody. [Linked Image]

Make sure you visit Old Faithful.

You’ll be real close to Badlands NP, it’s an interesting place.

Don’t forget to visit Wall Drugstore. On the way home head south and swing by Moab Utah. [Linked Image]
We still haven’t made it to Glacier NP yet.

This will be a fun trip. 3 weeks may not be enough time though.

That's a lot of ground.

We were gone 15 days and didn’t make it Glacier NP. It was another 8 hours drive north from Billings.

Fairy Falls Trail in Yellowstone. Relatively flat and 4.5 miles.

You can spend a week in Yellowstone and still have plenty to see again.

I would spend a half day or more at the Crazy Horse Memorial. We didn't allot enough time to that when we were there last summer.

~3800 miles. Looks like a great trip.

How set on Mt Rushmore are you. Looks like that puts your return trip down through Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. Personally not my favorites but others might disagree. If it were me I would look for a more westerly route through the mountains of Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.

If at Rushmore don't forget Devils tower and crazy horse. Stop in Deadwood pretty town.
If in Cody, WY you must stop at the Buffalo Bill firearms museum.

Plan on straight shot home from SD. Have to do another trip for the western states.

Don't be one of those idiots that try to see how close they can get to the wildlife.

I recommend downloading an app that will navigate you through the park. It will tell you points of interest, historical facts, and will give you the amount of time to do specific hikes. The Black Hills in SW SD is really a spectacular place to go. I would scratch Glacier and go here up Have fun!

The Beartooth Highway is not for the faint of heart. The Going to the Sun road not so much. Deadwood is a pretty cool place. With this being the 150th Anniversary of Yellowstone, the crowds and traffic could be above average for this time of the year. Not sure of your travel route but Weatherby's Headquarters in Sheridan might be worth a stop. If you take a more southern route, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody is a must see for the firearms section alone. You could easily spend two days there and not see everything. Red Lodge is a great place to spend the night.

Deadwood is a fun town. Gun fights in the street.

Hope you have a fantastic trip. I don't know that there is any more beautiful country in the World!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
