Last year I had a long drought this time of the year. Another one this year, after tearing them up this summer. Recapping the activity this year, last spring we ended up with a resident sounder of more than 40 strong. I was picking them off regularly, and they disappeared for a while. Then half returned, and I was picking them off regularly. I posted some vids of them in an adjacent neighborhood [you know the one, where the ritzy people live, and I know some people]. Seems like wantonly spraying at noises in the dark has paid off. Just kidding The sounder was trapped. Fast forward - the other half started showing up, but very irregularly. I thought I broke the drought earlier in the month as I finally crossed paths with them. Solid shot on a large hog. It was damp and still and had a huge smoke cloud in front of me and I couldn't see @#@! for a bit. Nothing, other than some crashing heard after a minute or so. No blood. Oh well. Last night I was working on coyotes early, and called one in after 30 seconds on my second setup. 12 gauge 00 buck and hit it back - hurt but he took off.. I was so surprised and it happened so fast with him coming from behind me. Crazy fast call in. Anyway I hadn't moved to a better spot for hogs yet. Just after dark I heard that telltale grunt to my right where my feeder is (~150 yards or so). No see nothing. Aside from the one sounder there are 3-4 boars roaming the place, again not real pattern, and it was one of them. I can only think he smelled me from earlier when I was down there by the feeeder, or he saw me as I was a bit exposed. Oh Well again.

Anyway,, here is a vid of a boar with a bit of an attitude. The herd bull made sure he knows who is in charge. Enjoy.

He had enough sense to run off.
