That ford big block that would fit a tennis ball in the port gave it a run though.

I know nothing about the Winchester but owned, built and races many Cleveland’s. The Windsor is totally different unrelated animal and the M or modified has a Cleveland top end with 2v heads and 429/460 main journals and bell housing. Effectively making it a big block as far as bolt in applications. The 400 was an M with a 4.00 stroke instead of then 3.50 in the 351. All have 4.00” bores. The. 4V Cleveland’s had 2.19/1.71 valves but all 4Vs were not 4 bolt mains. The 2v had 2.02/1.71 and 2 bolt mains. I’m full of facts about obscure crap. The Cleveland enjoyed a short life from 1970-74 in America, but was used in Australia until the mid 80s.

There’s something interesting here but could someone translate? Not trying to be a smart aleck but it seems you made some interesting point. I’d like to understand. If you had thrown in some random emojis it might put colt 45 to shame.

Dad had an ‘85 single cab long bed 4x4 with a Windsor I believe. Wish he would have kept it but at sub 13 mpg and a family of four understand why he didn’t. Had a posi in the front and rear, went a lot of places.

I'm not 50 yet and am not a F*** fan but I know that one. Windsors are more practical and cheaper. The 5.0L from my youth was derived from the Windsor line. Clevelands were the basis of the NASCAR engines and worth more as "exotic" F*** parts, especially the 4BBL heads. I am guessing the Cleveland is about 4X the cost due to scarcity.

Both were 90 degree V8s but I'm not sure either had a 60 degree valve angle. That's STEEP!

Pass the gravy.

Had several as company trucks. I've still got an old LTD with a 429 in it, it's been sitting in a caliche pit since 74. One of these day's.

Engines, it seems, is a more interesting topic. Truth be told, I wouldn’t have known what a 351 Cleveland engine was, if it hadn’t been for a buddy back in the 70’s that had one in a high performance Mercury. He was so proud of that engine and would talk endlessly about it. He wouldn’t let his wife drive it…until one day. With her car in the shop, she needed to go to Baton Rouge from where we all lived and worked, which was New Orleans. She called my buddy from the road, that elevated freeway on the west end of Lake Pontchartrain. Back then they had emergency phones along that stretch of road. She said to her hubby that the red oil light had come on, but there was no place to pull over, so she kept driving until the engine quit.

He had loved that engine, and she killed it.

Ran NHRA Super Stock with both engine's back in the 70's. You can tell by looking at the heads on complete in car engine's without any internal tear down. Windsor heads have 6 bolt valve covers. Cleveland 8.

The Cleveland came in both open and closed chambered heads. The 4V open chambered heads flowed like crazy.
