You are out of luck on the kidney stone shot!!!

Per our Dr., Yes on the 2 shot shingles vac. Much more effective.

I have shingles for about 2 weeks. Rash on my back and abdomen, Dr. prescribed Valacyclovir HCL 1 gram and Tramidol for pain. The Valacyclovir was 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7 days. Doing better now and 2 shots are needed.

Had chicken pox at an early age and came down with shingles when I was 9 or 10. Most don't get it that early.

I'm 43 but seriously considering getting raw vaccine after reading this thread.

If you've ever had them you'll never want it again. Good thing is, if you've had them that's pretty much it. I had them around my waist, backs of my knee's, I was in absolute misery. Mom would rub me down with Calamine Lotion a couple of times a day. Took weeks for the scabs to go away. Pain and a constant unignorably itching.

My daughter (34) just texted me from the DR's office with Shingles from her eye lid down around the cheek. As far as we remember she never had chickenpox. They gave her a steroid shot and some meds.

Did your daughter have the chicken pox vaccine when she was young?

She had all the mandated shots at the time. Don't think there was one back then.

update, saw my Dr. yesterday and ask about the second shot. He indicated it would not be needed being I have shingles now. The second shot introduces the antibodies to your body which in my case I have the antibodies due to being infected now.

My wife drove me down to the Farmers Branch Hospital on LBJ at under the speed limit 'cause she dinnit want to get a speeding ticket from the *&^%^#$ Farmers Branch POPO's when I was screaming in pain & yelling at me to be quiet 'cause it couldn't possibly hurt THAT bad. It took 3 orderlies to get me out of the back seat floor of the 2door Pontiac . The doc got me calmed down a little and on to a gurney with hand rails and was explaining to us what a Kidney Stone was and why it hurt. Then they got me off the gurney and stood me up in front of wall mounted X-Ray...and I fainted.

Back on the gurney, I came to with the wife on one side and the Doc on the other side when I heard the Doc ask my wife when was the last time she had given birth to twins ...breach....with no pain killers ....'cause He (me) hurts worse than that and finally shut her up. My forarm veins had collapsed and the nurse's could not get a needle in me to draw blood ...until the Vampire Lady phlebotistist showed up and won the Lottery the other nurse's has put up..... I had scars on the inside of my right forearm for years.

Carrollton Police accused me of being a drug addict a few times too until I dropped a certain Sgt's name who my attorney had made a deciple of when a certain Texas Ranger had a quiet conversation with him.

I have passed mebbe a dozen kidney stones ...or enough to know if I can get a good pain shot and get quiet and lay stilI I usually can pass the *&^%$ stone if I can get a strong enough pain shot....passed the last one on the XRay table when the XRay doc got called to work on another patient for a few minutes. ...and got PO'd when he walked back in the XRay booth and I was getting dressed at the Hospital in North Carrollton on Josey Lane. He dinnit think my Snooze Ya Looze comment was appropriate and told me he was not gonna get paid for my "treatment". I don't use THAT hospital anymore when I'm in North Dallas and have a problem. The hospital in Sherman off West Hwy 82 is no better, either.
