Was curious as to what the consensus might be on a hunting light for a night hunt for Hogs. I've heard that the "green" light is best, but open to anyone's input that has used a light. I also welcome input on type of light brand and/or lumens that work for say up to 75 yards. Last question - there's no law against using a light to hunt hogs in TX, right? Thanks!

I’ve used this like get with great success out to 100 yds. I prefer the green as it is the same color as my feeder lights. It’s perfectly legal to hunt hogs with a light. You may get a visit from the game warden if it’s deer season but as long as your not shooting deer or other game animals your legal. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071RT1JG7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have used white, green, and red lights to hunt hogs. Some people will claim that because they used a given color (usually red or green) at one time and that the hogs didn't react, that the hogs can't see the light (the light's throw). That is simply untrue. For whatever reason, the hogs didn't react to it. Hogs may be "colorblind" which means that they can't distinguish between red and green, but does not mean red or green is invisible to them. Strangely, I know a guy that was similarly colorblind and he thought the hog hogs could not see the red lights that he used to drive his truck with across pastures, yet he could see them.
Folks like Pappybear have a preference. My preference is for white light, but it is the hardest to use successfully, so let's rule that out. For most people, objects illuminated with red light have less detail than those illuminated with green light. It can actually be harder to see regular black/brown animals with red light than green light, though grey/green armadillos can virtually disappear with some green lights.
If hogs have been hunted with colored lights previously, they will react accordingly, like they are reacting to being lit up with white lights. So light management is still important. Folks that hunt with lights (white, red, green) have the best success with turn on the light and lowering it down on the animals and illuminating them with the splash portion of the bean (not the central hot spot). This apparently (theory holds) creates less well defined shadows and so aren't as apt to spook the hogs as readily. The other option is to have a variable intensity light and slowly turn up the brightness on the hogs until you reach a point bright enough where you can responsibly and ethically shoot them. It helps to be able to properly identify what you are shooting and what end you are shooting.
I don't hunt with lights anymore, so am not up on what brand is the best or most cost effective.

As far as the brand, Sniper Hog Lights are amazing. Most will come with a green and a red diopter or whatever they are called. I don't offhand know of a light that can compare.

I got a VL2 light from wildgame innovations. It's been on the feeder at least 3 years straight. I'll see if I can get some video or pictures of it this weekend. I can see what's under the feeder from my stand 125 yards away with a normal rifle scope.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
