I had a 5075M for ten years, never had any trouble out of it except the tach quit working, sold it to a friend two years ago and he has had no complaints.
The M series is alot heavier built than the E.

I would look for an older tractor. Something from 70's to 90's. There are some that are well maintained and low hours.
Stay away from the new stuff. I went from Texas to Indiana in 2013 and bought a early 90's model Ford with 724 hours.
Drives like new. Good older tractors are out there. Take your time and look for them. IMO you will be better off with something older.

I bought a new JD 40 HP tractor probably 15 years ago. Never had any real trouble with it. Then a few years ago I just started using it mostly for shredding. I needed a more compact hydrostatic drive type tractor. I looked at the different brands and ended up buying a new Mahindra. A lot less expensive and I really like it. Have about 300 hours on it now and no problems so far.

I have a 2014 40hp Mahindra and its been flawless. Have talked to 3 Mahindra dealers about 65-75hp cab tractors and zero are in stock. They seemed very disheartened with Mahindras ability to supply tractors anytime in the near future and tried directing me to other brands they sold.

The neighbor says he’s gonna buy a Kioti 40 HP tractor. He hates JD, though it isn’t clear why. His little grandson wanted a pedal type kiddie tractor and a green JD was the only option, and he’s still mad about having to buy that.

When you drop under the true farm tractor size and get into these utility tractors, they all leave a lot to be desired. So, you need to fit the best tractor to you tasks, and get one built with components you prefer. I had never owned a sub 130 HP tractor until 2018, and needed to add a small tractor with no cab to run a 8' shredder. I looked at JD, Kubota, New Holland/Case IH, and a couple of brand X. It came down to the Kubota and JD, and I went with a 5075E JD. It had what I wanted- an engine with wet sleeves, enough hydraulic flow to do what I needed, enough PTO HP to run the shredder plus some, a wet clutch, a transmission that is not a hystat. None of the others had that. I did not have the need to move up to the M series to do what I needed to do with it, and the difference in cost would have been wasted money.

The 5075E I looked at has 12F and 12R gears. The 5075M has 16F and 16R. I will never need that many.....at least for now.

I was a little troubled by the plastic throttle and PTO controls though I have slowly warmed up to them. The M has them as well. I really like the side and rear windows that open for ventilation, how quiet the cab is, the fact the dealership offered to swap the agg tires for industral since I use the tractor around the pond/yard sometimes. All the other brand dealers I spoke to this was a no-go.

I am going to drive the tractor again Monday. I want to check the brake pedal again on initial startup and check visibility using the pallet forks.

All I'd say is do your homework and side by side comparison with the same sized machines in Case/New holland, Mahindra, & Kubota before you buy the JD.

I know when I bought mine back in 2012 after doing a ton of research I went with the Mahindra 8560 (83hp engine) and have been very happy with the machine. It was simply a much heavier machine than any of the other brands I listed above and had much better hydraulic systems (lifting capacities & speed) at the time and being that I was going to use it to plow & disc the weight to me was a big thing.
It didn't hurt at the time that it eas 10% less than the Kubota and 20% less than the same sized green tractor but to be honest cost wasn't the deciding factor with me at all.

I have had great luck with my Case IH 120C and a new Case IH 55A. The new 55A has proven quite handy with allot the average hay hauling, loading and off-loading, shredding, grading... you name it. Both are Cab tractors. Put the largest radial R1 tires I could fit on the 120C for bailing and comfort in the field and run them with little PSI which makes the ride quite good. I run the standard R1 on the 55A with the widest offset on the front axle I can for the most stability and that tractor rides great as well. Great AC, Great Heat, great service from Hendershot. Nothing bad. Any issue I have ever had was rectified immediately.

Orange, blue, green, or red the tractor often comes down to the dealer. I made my choice based on the dealership actual showing an interest in selling and servicing the tractor. The tractor had all the features I needed.
One dealer had a quoting machine for a salesman who knew nothing and service was expensive. One the first thing they wanted to do was put me in a tractor larger than my requirements. The next would not answer any specific questions until after purchase. Another the salesman looked at me and added 10% to the price thinking I wouldn't know different.

I'm sure my grandparents would be turning in their grave if they knew I didn't buy green. Did my due diligence and research, the Deere's of today are nowhere near the quality they were back in the day. Like macec3, I'd be looking for the older models and barn finds.

I did. Much to my surprise the Powerstar series was more expensive.

It's actually called a lawn tractor but Just for that, I added my latest accessory, I call it bobo.

Oh btw....here is some edumacation, for ya.

The difference between riding lawn mowers and lawn tractors lies in the location of the cutting deck. Lawn tractors have a mid-mounted cutting deck, while for riding lawn mowers, the cutting deck is located under the front of the vehicle.

I get it the word "Lawn" is not accurate. Also did you see where I said not in same class?

So, now I'm confused.
Is this consider a lawn mower pictured here or a lawn tractor??

And for the record, this is a real mower! Absolutely the best investment I've made in the last 5 years without a doubt.
Cut my mowing time down from 6-8 hours to 1.5 - 2 hours!

I have a John Deere 4 Series Tractor, 48 Hp with the E-Hydro Transmission. High, Med and Low and the forward and reverse is on the pedal with the standard colum throttle adjustment in addition to the pedal.

I didn't know how I was gonna like the tractor at first but I've falled in love with the little guy. Big enough to move anything I've needed it to move, and manuverable in tight spaces. I don't plow much with it, just use it for general ranch work, using the box blade, pulling up dead cedar with the forks, etc.

I was always a Case and Kubota guy but I would buy it again, I'm happy with it.

Oxner Jr. it has No PTO, there for it's not a tractor.

It's a lawn mower, congrats on your lawn purchase. With the price of fertilizer you might want to take the bag off

At the ranch in the Big Empty this week. Talked to a rancher at the gas station yesterday who was filling up his side by side. Said he was going to use it to spread grass seed because it was getting too expensive to run his tractor.
