Grandson just called, raving about how good the BBQ was at Cooper’s. I’m gonna need to try it next time I’m in that area.

He’s a great cook on his own, so he isn’t easy to impress.

Ate there last week. It was good. They have a new 24 yr young pitmaster at the helms. Good kid, imo.

What the GS said was that it was the best brisket he’d ever had, but he also said he had only had BBQ in Dallas to compare it to.

Back when I worked just off the west loop in Houston, my local favorite bbq was the Luling City Mkt just inside the loop on Richmond. I sure would like lunch there again. They had the best ribs…

Been forever since I have eaten there and it was very good back then, if I was nearby and hungry I would try it again.

Now that Cooper's has multiple locations everywhere, I will say the Llano location is the best one of the bunch. The others suck.

The Llano location is the best. FTW is not bad. It is just different. Not low and slow. I like it.

In Llano a little further west on hwy 29 you will find Ingrams BBQ. If you have not tried Ingrams give it a try it is good as well.

The Llano Cooper's is about 40 miles from Mason. I think their "Q" is good, but not great. There's a Cooper's right here in Mason; good but not great. The Cooper's in Junction is my favorite. It's about 45 miles away, is operated by the Cooper family, and the food is consistently great. If you've not been to the Llano Cooper's, just beware of the weekend crowds around lunch time! It is an absolute mad house from about 11am until 3pm. Gotta be a gold mine for the owners!!

Inman's ... up not Ingrams ... one of my top 5 Brisket places ... Located in the old Rabbling Rose Dance hall building. I've been going to Inman's since they opened back in the mid 1960s, also have great fresh homemade bread, pies, and their famous turkey link sausage.

Cooper's in Llano has just gotten too over hyped by the Austin want-to-bes but I still like their "thick chop" (thick pork chop).

Yes indeed! Inman's turkey sausage is to die for. And a bit east of Inman's is Millers; no Q offered, but some truly world class sausage that you can take home toss on the grill!

I stand corrected it is Inman and not Ingram. Must have been one of those senior moments.

I like it, always stop by if I'm on the road. Is there better Q? Probably but I like all the game heads on the wall, blackberry cobbler, etc.

Been years but I thought their pork chops were very good and pigged out on their beans. Only one I have been to is LLano.

Was through there about 8 years ago and stopped in due to all the hoopla and came away really underwhelmed. Expected BBQ perfection, but the meat was lacking flavor and really tough (undercooked?). Might have just been a bad day and/or they're back to where they have been based on their reputation. But not that day.

I drive by on my way to/from the lease lease in Mason cty where I have been a member for 16/17 yrs and get there regularly. I've stopped at Coopers ~5 times in that time period. as other folks say, the BBQ is good and I think the pork chop is my favorite. definitely, you should avoid 11-noon sundays as I have seen crazy lines as I drive by on my way back.

Tommy Cooper was my great great uncle and the founder of the Llano location. In my opinion, it isn't as good as it used to be.

Angelo's here in Ft. Worth is the same. I notice this happens a lot when the next generation takes over.

We ate at Coopers about 25 years ago and it was very good. We ended up with way more than we could eat, so we got to sample just about everything. The brisket and pork chops were great.
Wasn’t this the place that Bush used to cater from whenever He was governor and had some dignitaries to impress?

25 years ago Coopers was very good. I think Sr. used Otto's some and W used Perini's some and maybe Joe Allen's at least once if I recall correctly.

went to Luling City Mkt yesterday, just around the corner from the office. Briskey was very good, sausage not so much. It had a hot dog texture this time, usually a coarse grind.

I’m envious. I really would like to have lunch at that Luling City Mkt again. Unfortunately, it’s about 165 miles from me now, and on the West Loop (traffic hell). I hope to avoid the West Loop for the rest of my life.

There’s a lot of good food in that part of Houston. I worked off the west loop for maybe 10 years. Burgers at the Bellaire Broiler and Mexican food at Pico’s. Chili Dogs at James Coney Island. The list is endless.

We lived in Cypress too, or at least that was our mailing address. We lived in Lakewood Forest, just off Grant Road, on Cypresswood Blvd.

hot dog texture - what? Their coarse ground loose stuffed sausage is to die for. Something amiss. That would be a disturbance in the force.
