Took 2 birds last weekend and decided to pluck them. Put them in the skillet this evening with some seasoned flour and Wesson oil, too nasty outside for deep frying. They came out extremely juicy, much more than frying without the skin. I’ll be plucking my next few birds.

Nice, had some chicken fried quail couple weeks ago for the first time. Was delicious, gonna have to get some quail and make it at home.

Shoot more quail and invite a friend to dinner. He may even bring some Bock.

You did it the old fashion way. Looks as if it was worth the effort.

If you have a lot to pluck scald them first. Heat water to 150 degrees dip bird in water holding hind leg moving up and down in water for 15-20 second. Feathers come off EZ.

When we used to hunt deer out at Uvalde, my buddy would bring 3-4 dozen partially de-boned quail to cook one night over the fire pit. If I were to paint a picture of Heaven, it would be a bunch of good friends sitting around a mesquite fire, eating hot quail off the coals, and toasting some trophy deer with a Crown and Coke!! Doesn't get much better.
Beer and whiskey, 'cause you can't drink bacon!!
