I know I am fixing to get roasted for asking so here it goes! Where is everyone finding property to hunt hogs? Every time I ask someone, they say get a deer lease and hunt them when deer are not in season. I want to hunt hog not deer so it would be a waste to pay for a deer lease and not hunt deer.

I’ve seen people post on market place and Craig’s list that they will go hunt them for free, not sure if anyone ever lets them. We bought 29 acres a few years ago, just to hunt and shoot on. Most hunters don’t let strangers on their place.

Cant speak specifically to public lands but I don’t know many absentee or private land owners who would be keen on strangers running around their property at night shooting hogs without charging a fee. Maybe some ranchers but I suspect they’d want to closely supervise.

Perceived liability is one of the most important things to land owners so without knowing the hunters or decent revenue to offset the liability, there’s just not a lot to interest a land owner in that kind of arrangement.

I see tons of postings for planned hog hunts from $150-250/Day so that sounds like a pretty good deal if you don’t have to worry about feeders, feed, baiting holes, Etc. Just watch out for those places that charge you an additional hidden trophy or cleaning fee, per pig.

Something somewhat unappealing to some but has worked for me.

buy work gloves.

Allot 4-10 times the amount of time working with a rancher than you'd expect to be in the field.

repeat.

I have been blessed with results of this technique

You could pay for a deer lease and then just call it your hog lease

get the aph permit and go hit public lands in your area. shouldnt be that hard. It will hone your skills to go somewhere you've never been and go find em.
