Haha that's funny smile from skeptical to 10k projectiles!

I've been looking at the price difference on Barnes 30873 130gr TTSX lately. It's a bullet Mr. Wilson did some testing on a while ago, you need to remove the tip to get it inside magazine length. Which in my eyes isn't too crazy because a lot of copper bullets like a good bit of jump. Which leads me to ask anyone that loads the 95 or 110 Lehighs, what y'all suppose your jump distance is? .020"? .040"?

Graf's has yet to take their money for my SBR order, so I'm beginning to ponder what light weight coppers to order. These dang CuttingEdge ones look very promising With a BC of .400 & 130gr should help carry some energy out there. I'm just really wondering if a 350 Legend CProducts Duramag, that let's you seat out to 2.3" will get them anywhere near the lands for good accuracy.
https://cuttingedgebullets.com/308-130gr-mth-match-tactical-hunting

Here's what the CuttingEdge would look like using Hornady's Ballistic Calculator.

The biggest downside to even trying these is the price, $1.19ea. shipped (qty.200) That's a rather expensive inquiry.

Here's some crazy price differences.

Someone once called me Clark Howard. But here's an example 50 - Boxes of these (I'd never order that much) @ Midway $2,585 (shipped with tax) same 50 boxes from BHA $1,536 shipped. 41% cheaper. The only thing Midway has impressed me with lately is their fast shipping and their desire to take more of your hard earned money.

I run an original Pulsar XQ50 Trail and a XQ50 Thermion, I'm pretty happy with both. A buddy just got one of the new Steiner's and he's pretty impressed with it. Now you can get good thermal for less than good NV so I don't even use any of my FLIR NV anymore.

I'm also available for adoption if you will share those with me!

No hoarding here. I shoot barrels out.

I'm afraid at the risk of sounding cheap those are a little outside my budget...since all my night shots are inside of 100yd I'll stick with an elcheapo ATN IR setup. Do you use goggles or NV binoculars until you see something then switch to the scope or do you go by sound or just scan with the scope every so often. Sorry to be such a pest but I'm kinda new to this hunting in the dark stuff.

Just out of curiosity what was the shipping cost on that large of an order. I'm thinking of getting more next time that is unless you cleaned them out.

$85 for insured. I didn’t order all that for the 300 HAM’R. I ordered alot of heavy 6, 6.5 & 30 cal bullets for long range shooting.

I’m a precision bolt guy. The AR is for my 8yr old because of the adjustable stock and ease of changing calibers.

By the way, the Deadfoot shortened buffer system has worked flawlessly now with various HAM'R rounds.

It's a Recluse. Best holster ever for pocket carry! Super minimalist and not sure you can see it or not but the trigger is pressed into a mold. Prints like a phone or wallet. You basically shove your hand in between the leather and gun to break it away and draw out.

I use a Pulsar XQ50 Hellion for spotting

So I thought Socom was the go to powder over CFEBLK because of case volume but I just found the load data from WC and it shows CFEBLK 75-100fps faster. Is the Socom more accurate? Kinda thinking I should have bought CFEBLK.

SOCOM is only suitable for 95gr-110gr bullets or light load 125gr range loads, the burn rate is too fast for heavier bullets. CFEBLK is the GO TO powder for all other applications and the ONLY powder we recommend for 150gr loads. Additional options are A1680 and SW Blackout, both work pretty well for slightly reduced loads, especially for 125gr-130gr bullets. We have not had any success with any other powders.

Ive loaded 500+ rounds of 110gr with CFEBLK

Both Controlled chaos and Hornady Vmax bullets.

I think SOCOM is probably the way to go for a commercial offering of 110gr projectiles for case volume and physical loading efficiency.

If a user is loading on a single stage, tap all the powder charges down before seating, and is willing to gauge every round before boxing it Id stick with cfeblk. I’ve stayed 3/10 a grain under max listed load with that process and have about a 2% gauge failure rate across the last 300 rounds.
I pull those failed bullets, dump the powder, resize (I decap all my brass before processing so my sizer die has the recapping pin removed) remeasure the powder and reseat minus 2/10th a grain.

I’ve chronographed those loads in a controlled group and the results weren’t far enough off to notice in the field from a control group of 5 rounds hand weighed to the exact 1/10th of a grain at my target charge weight.

Just an opinion for some hand loaders.

If I were running these in my 1050 press Cranking several hundred an hour Id defer to SOCOM

Well, I get some CFEBLK then. The 8lbs of Socom is supposed to be delivered today.
I’ll use it in the 650 to load some plinking rounds for my daughter to practice with. I have 110gr for her to practice with and then 130gr to put in for when she is hunting. I’ll still have good use for the Socom.

We just received a fairly large shipment of Hornady 135gr FTX bulk bullets for the ammo co so I'd expect to see 100ct boxed bullets to begin showing up at places like Graf, Midway, Midsouth, Powder Valley, etc soon so keep an eye out and please post here if you locate them in stock. This is a VERY good bullet for the HAM'R, especially for deer/hogs.

Dzhitshard, pretty much spot on above. Powder fill and the indexing of automated machines is why we like SOCOM for the lighter bullets. Powder fill isn't an issue with CFEBLK if your loading on a single stage or Dillon 550. However SOCOM is the BEST powder choice for both accuracy and velocity with the 95gr CC. The 95gr CC at 2800fps shoots very good in my barrels.

Bill, in your opinion, what is the BEST load for the Ham'r for deer and hog hunting? What is the best load strickly based on accuracy? Thanks Daniel

Their is no BEST load for everyone and no bullet will shoot the best in all barrels!!!

The best load would be whichever of the following bullet weight you prefer that shoots the best in YOUR barrel, they will all kill deer and hogs VERY well.

95gr Lehigh CC
110gr Lehigh CC
130gr Speer HAM'R HOT-CORE
135gr Hornady FTX
150gr Hornady SST

Overall the most accurate bullet I've ever shot in multiple barrels is the Sierra 125gr Prohunter, but it wouldn't be my choice to shoot a big buck or boar with. 1/2" groups are not uncommon with this bullet.

The 125 prohunter would be a best at the matches then if my barrel likes it. Daniel

Minus the 95gr CC & that #30303 150gr SST I've been collecting a pretty decent montage of most of these bullets impacting and exiting pigs over the last few months.

Those 130 HHC and 135gr FTX are serious punchers and I'm very careful to use them in pastures where there are livestock because they penetrate and stay together so well. Outside of big bears I don't think there's much of anything in the continental US I would be concerned hitting with one.

A few 110gr CC videos were shown to a couple land owners and they were pleased to see the low ricochet or likelihood of over penetration causing livestock & property damage.

I probably won't get to the 95gr CC but I'm looking forward to my case of 150gr SST projectiles that have been on backorder well over a year.

Dzhitshard

If over penetration and ricochet is a concern I'd highly recommend the following: 95gr CC (penetrates about 1/3rd less than the 110gr CC), 130gr Speer HP and 135gr Sierra HP. I rarely get an exit with any of these on deer/hogs and all kill very quickly. If you shoot one of the Sierra 135gr HPs into a 10gal cattle mineral tub full of water it's like a hand grenade went off in it. These would also be excellent for urban defense use.

Good and timely information for me to have since a rancher has asked me to pay special attention at watching over a couple goat pens next week.
Thank you.
I have a suppressed 38spl lever that I have loaded with 158gr for yard pigs. I'm always exceptionally leery that the shot is clear to the sides and background. They can have an unpredictable path once they hit a skull.

Well I went deer hunting this weekend with the ham'r. 11.3" barrel. I was using the speer 125grn tnt and 25 grains of 1680. I haven't had a chance to Chrono it yet, or really develop a load it likes best, but it shot clean through a doe at 100 yds. she ran about 30 yds leaving a huge blood trail. probably not the best shot placement, but I'd never shot a deer before. entry hole was hard to find, but the exit wound was large enough. bigger than a quarter, and smaller than a 50 cent piece.

[Linked Image]

by the way, after taking a 223 case and turning it into a ham'r, they do fire form into a final shape.
1x fired ham'r on the right, converted 223 case on the left, awaiting a load and fire.

some body taper is gone, and a much sharper shoulder. I think the case shrank in length a little too.
