The big 8pt with double drops was killed this afternoon. He was bigger than we thought and grossed 200 6/8" with his 8pt frame grossing 184 2/8". He had one G2 that was 15.5" and just a shade under 40" of mass. There were 3 other bucks killed this weekend and everyone was larger than we thought they were. I will post pics of those bucks along with others that are still alive. Several new bucks have shown up on trail cams or while hunting this past week.

Droptine buck was 200 6/8 " gross NT.
[Linked Image]
The second buck was 173 gross with about 6" broken off, so around 179 gross.
[Linked Image]
Last buck was 213 5/8" gross NT.

There are still a lot of bucks available to hunt in all hunting price ranges. Hunt fee is $3000 to hunt for 3 days with guiding, food and lodging. Trophy fees are: $3500 for Class I, $4500 for Class II and $6500 for Class III. Signature bucks $3000 to hunt for 3 days and $9500 and up for trophy fees. We believe there are still 2 signature bucks to hunt. Lot of new bucks showing up on trail cams and at the blinds. Management hunts are available also. Bucks are priced by how they look and not so much by score. Big typical frames that are cleaner are normally priced as high or higher than really NT bucks will be that score the same. Trophy hunts are for 5.5 yr old or older bucks also.

The owner is wanting to sell a hunt for this Nontypical buck on his ranch located in Gillespie County. This hunt will be guided but no food or lodging. You can find food and lodging within 30 miles or less. Several restaurants are from 5 to 25 miles away in Doss, Hilltop, Harper, Mason or Fredericksburg. B&B and VRBO rentals are everywhere as well as hotel/motel lodging. This hunt will have a daily hunt fee of $250/day you hunt, then a $4000 trophy fee added to that. This hunt will take place around other scheduled hunts. This buck is very nontypical and has at least one droptine..he could have more that would count as a droptine. He has good mass and a lot of nontypical points...over 20 scoreable points.

Some awesome deer. Latest NT is interesting and very reasonable pricing, but I'm more of a typical frame guy which I guess this ranch owner is too.

Yes he is more of a typical frame and then how they look. No short G2 or narrow spread or lack mass or short tines or high beam look. He has been managing for larger framed typical bucks since 2000 on his previous ranch and now on this one.

Another buck was killed yesterday evening that was 6x6 typical with 3 kickers and he grossed just over 208. His typical 6x6 frame gross just under 199. Still have a lot of big bucks and management bucks left to hunt. Lot of new bucks showing on trail cams after the recent rain and cooler temps...was 36 this morning.

Several more bucks have been killed in the last week including a 5x6 with kickers that grossed little over 234. He was 29" inside and his typical frame was right at 199 gross. Also a 5x4 with matching mule deer forks and 1 kicker on each G2. He grossed just over 212 with 27" main beams and 39" on mass. With his 8pt frame was 179.7 gross. [Linked Image]

Still have a lot of big deer showing up on cams.

They do a 2 day management hunt for $3000. Guided but no food or lodging. This hunt is for 2 bucks of guides choice scoring up to 160 gross. If the guide shows hunter a buck to shoot and hunter passes then he has only 1 buck left to shoot. Basically it whatever shows up at that blind that does not fit the management program. This is not a trophy hunt, but a management hunt for bucks that do not fit into the program. When two bucks are shot then hunt is over. If guide deems a shot at buck as a hit, that counts as one of the bucks.
