Great post! And don't forget to connect your kill switch on boats and jet skis.

Pinned TTT for a couple of months.
Great thread and reminders of some of the dangers out there that we face. We on THF have also lost member (poisonivie) and his wife from CO poison 12-27. It wasn't a hunting blind but a motel water heater that got them.

As said, great reminder Thumper, years ago we lost a cousin and his fiance when they used a small gas heater while tent camping in California

Buddy of mine was using a CO2 heater in a Montana blind elk hunting. He didn’t make it.

Thanks for continuing to spread the awareness! People need to be reminded each year that something so simple can potentially be deadly

This a good thread to bring back as the weather cools. The Mr. Heater series are well known to be safe when functioning properly with enough makeup air. They have a built-in Oxygen sensor to shut down if you have used it all up. They produce very little CO when running right. But remember that you can buy a very small lightweight battery powered Carbon Monoxide alarm for $15 to $25. Might be cheap insurance and worth the effort depending on what you are doing.

FWIW, I tested my Big Buddy heater with less ventilation in a small space than required and it shut down on low O2 and never triggered the carbon monoxide alarm. But, I keep the CO alarm in the same case as the heater. Maybe I'm just just a belt+suspenders type of guy!

I just recently tested all my Buddy heaters, and they all work, which is good news. While in the blind, there will always be open windows. I trust the Buddy heaters, but don’t trust them with my life.
