… yet they say this in attempting to puff up the 6mm-ARC , see below. There is no way the 6 ARC hits harder than Grendel inside 300 yards. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/09/full-57353-311052-e8c7538f_ae3f_4fec_b69a_4fe07b4f64bf.jpeg)

They are just trying to pimp the latest. Grendel has a bigger diameter and bigger bullet.

This is how they lose me as a reader - when they blatantly post drivel and it pads their commercial agreements.
Most of the 6 ARC Ammo ive shot was slower than “the advertisements say” and the reloading data is anemic , there is 1 powder (Lvrevolution) that posts solid velocities.

Most of the 6 ARC Ammo I've shot was slower than “the advertisements say” and the reloading data is anemic , there is 1 powder (Lvrevolution) that posts solid velocities. That is also one of the top velocity powders in the Grendel it and CFE223, both have pretty large swings with temperature variations. I think that was written to try to boost ARC sales. Inside 400 yards I would take the Grendel every day and twice on Sundays. There is something to be said about diameter and bullet choices. Though I have had good luck with some Hornady bullets I have experienced some horrific failures as well (20 plus years ago but one remembers those), verified with second or third shots to stop the critter. Give me a good quality bullet in the Grendel over the ARC. Too many gun rags these days sell out to the big $, like a lot of other stuff. Truth doesn't matter to some. Hornady delayed the announcement of the ARC last year after the NRA convention was canceled and did not use the extra time to get the introduction right IMO and see more and more going back to the Grendel from the ARC and figure their sales are showing it.

Blaming a **cartridge** for poor or inappropriate bullet selection suggests the writer doesn’t understand much about practical hunting ballistics.

I've spotted for Grendels all the way to the end of my range, several times. All running factory ammo.
It is the little cartridge that could.

It is the little cartridge that could. I'm putting together my first AR pistol, and it's a 6.5 Grendel. Almost finished with it, can't wait to shoot it. My original thought was to run it suppressed, but I changed my mind. Now I am trying to decide between a flash hider, a brake, or a linear compensator......not sure what would work best.

Suppressor is a good way t go for noise and recoil. On the Grendel unless shooting at night no need for anything on the end of the barrel such as break, or flash hider unless shooting at night. Recoil from a gas gun is very light.
one other reason for a pinned and welded flash hider is if you go with a 14.5 inch barrel

So this gun is kind of a "bug out" gun. 12" barrel and putting a Law Tactical folding stock adaptor on it so it can fit in a back pack. I have a 300 Blk with a dedicated 30 cal can on it and it runs very clean, no issues with blow back whatsoever but....I've watched a bunch of videos of folks shooting a Grendel pistol suppressed and it "looks" like there is a lot of blowback (I know some of that can be adjusted). So, besides the extra length with a suppressor I'm thinking there may be blow back issues/dirty gun. I may be wrong though. All of my other AR's are full sized, I am new to AR pistols.
In a SHTF scenario I may be shooting at night.
Sorry to derail the thread.

I love my AR 6.5G. Shooting the Hornady 123SST makes it a force to be reckoned with. Farthest shot was 189 on a pig, shot in the head DRT. Farthest shot on a whitetail was 115 yards and he spun 3 times before collapsing. Great wound channel, no exit, no tracking. I've spotted for Grendels all the way to the end of my range, several times. All running factory ammo.

I’m waiting to here your opinion before I SBR my Grendel with a 12.5 inch barrel.

Bug out, wouldn't you want to be shooting quietly? I want to all the time.
My policy with ARs is that they all get an adjustable gas block. In your bug out bag add some things to clean the action and BCG, as well as oil to lube them back up.
You could do the solvent trap route, Form-1 it, and make it become a suppressor once your paperwork comes back. Then you'll have both firearms suppressed.

You will find quite a few on the 65grendel.com forum with short barreled guns running suppressors. I do read quite often about the blowback. Double Naught Spy could tell you quite a bit about running suppressed on a Grendel though he uses a longer barrel.
One guy LRRPF52 on that site said shooting 600 yards with his 12.5 inch barreled Grendel was getting boring, guess it helps for longer range if the range is at 5,000+ feet elevation.

They make a good argument in that article. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to shoot deer through windshields, so their data on that subject is very relevant to a hunting round.

Grendel is an awesome caliber - lived and breathed it
Let’s talk about how the article portrays 6 ARC as better , you know with all three of its factory offerings ….
THAT is what I meant to call forward in this post
Any 6 ARC world beaters out there ???

I'm not a big fanatic about all the statistics of ammo, but the Grendel has served me well when night hunting for hogs, using a full sized AR with a suppressor. I also have a bolt action Ruger in Grendel, and took my first deer with it last season. Dropped it right on the spot. I moved on to a Sharps carbine in 45-70 for my second deer and then moved on to a Marlin 38/55 that I like for my last two does. They all performed just fine......

I bought a 12.5" 6.5g upper from a THF member who had ran it suppressed. I don't quite remember his experiences with it. Life happened and I never got to complete the build or even shoot the upper before I had to pass it on.

Like was already stated, G&A is selling ads and articles. Skynyrd, in the 70's, wrote "Working for MCA", Guns and Ammo wrote, October 2021, Working for Hornady. Anyone who's studied the PPC case has known the 6MM Grendel has been a thing for a long time. Hornady just got Saami approval and is trying to sell more ammo. Good for them.
