There needs to be a law passed that no fish is allowed in the microwave. just freaking nasty!

And clean up your mess, or we cut a finger off.

Microwaved anything is nasty.

Fish in the microwave is bad but have you ever smelled Vietnamese Nuoc mam?
That stuff will literally make you puke.

I just microwaved a bunch of spare ribs from the weekend, they were awesome. I think everyone in the office has been by my office poking around for one.

I just microwaved some venison boudin, Everybody wants some but I only brought 1 link.

I loved taking leftover salmon patties to work. What a sweet smell, when they were warming up in the microwave.
I did however have my own microwave outside on the mezzanine, that was above the open repair shop.

I had a guy put a load of Chitlins that were in a styrofoam to go container in the microwave in our break room. Holy hell did that stink up everything really bad. Everybody pretty much ended their breaks right there and bailed out of there pretty quick.

I once ran a construction crew for an E&I Contractor at Powell Industries In Houston, building Switchgear Buildings/Motor Control Centers (Electrical Buildings) etc and testing them. Most of the workforce there are Vietnamese. They can be taught to be excellent fabricators/installers/wiremen. They don't know anything about electricity, but that's not their job. Their job is installing wiring from point A to point B correctly, and making it look pretty. They do an excellent job at that, but my God....I hated lunch time there. They all line up behind rows & rows of microwaves heating up some kind of fish, fermented fish, fish head soup, eel, and who knows what else. You wanna talk about STANK!!! Lord have mercy that was ruff.

Most of the gringos, black folks, and Messicans would just leave for lunch as none of us could handle that chit.

a lady at work brought in some leftover fish, tossed it in the microwave in the break room, went to the bathroom, must of been a urgent need, as she was gone for a while leaving the microwave on full bore. The microwave ran for likely 8-10 minutes before she got back to it and filled all the halls with the nastiest smelling odor imaginable. Then she had the nerve to walk back to her cubicle half way across the building leaving a trail of stank. for the next several weeks, anytime anyone would fire up that microwave, it emitted a foul fishy odor. I think faculties finally had to throw it away.

another time, we had a guy from Russia that worked with us and he loved to fish for anything. He was forever bringing in several whole perch that had been gutted & scaled, but the rest intact. He cooked it in some form of a stew like method with potatoes and tomatoes, God awful looking stuff to me. Well one day before lunch, he got a call that a relative was deathly ill, and he left in a rush. After a few days, we started noticing a foul smell in the portable building where we worked. After a long weekend (and the previous week) with the a/c turned off in the portable building, the smell was horrible where we couldn't work. And he always put his lunch in a short filing cabinet that he locked. We finally figured out what was going on and hauled that filing cabinet out of our portable and put it on the sidewalk by the main building. He never did come back to work ...

We actually have a corporate company policy against microwaving certain foods in the office...

I'm feeling the need to bring some Brussel sprouts.

We used to have a Taiwanese guy that would bring his fish, squid, crab soup.

Absolutely horrid.

Least of my worries…I work in jails/prisons where the lack of bathing stench is usually overwhelming. I gladly welcome a fishy smell change of pace.

My office was in my home.

If you think fish is bad, try working with software guys from India ….

I’m not trying to trash curry, I’ve had some fantastic Thai and Indian food. I’m just bitter because my old next door apartment neighbors were Indian, and the smell from their unit was so strong it permeated our shared wall bad enough to make my closet & entire wardrobe smell

I first thought that your work place must be a real joy to be a part of, then I remembered all the dumb kids that work for us, and the dumb rules we have to implement every time they screw something up that we didn’t think they could. Stupid always finds a way.

I walked into the staff suite one day soon after I started at my current job and there was a God awful smell...sure enough a lady had microwaved salmon and broccoli. I asked who thought it was okay to do that and my boss pointed to her (their offices were next to each other). She looked at me and asked if that was not okay to microwave. I explained it was not and that she should take into consideration others, as the smell lingers. She had been doing this for 10 years and I was the first one to ever say anything. Really sweet lady born and raised Amarillo, but clueless about office etiquette. Just one more reason I'm grateful my office is located away from the professional suite and in the back of the building.
