We do not arrest guilty people. We arrest based on probable cause. Everything she did that night, her actions, her behavior (both behind the wheel and outside the car), and her demeanor would lead any reasonable person to conclude that she was driving while in an impaired state. Whether that is due to the presence of alcohol, a drug (prescription or otherwise), or some medical problem (diagnosed or not) is something that is discovered after the arrest is made during the evidentiary process. I stand behind her and her decision.

Probably time for both sides to step back and take a deep breath, West has represented himself poorly as a leader and Governor prospect, although I respect him for defending his wife. Sleep driving, texting, driver distraction are all on the level with drunk driving, and all could be eliminated with a little personal responsibility. The officer obtained the best information available for the situation, and in my book took appropriate actions. Mr. West on the other hand decided to attack the police officer and the department in a public manner. Justice was served, no person was deprived of life or liberty, and I'm sure a sharp lawyer will make a bundle off the coming legal action, because we cannot as a society accept that we are all in this together better or worse and sometimes we get it wrong.

The test results don’t change much, for me. Mr. West didn’t handle this very well. Mrs. West didn’t need to be driving. The officer did the world a favor getting her off the road.

Hell, we'd have to arrest 80% of America if we arrested for that condition.

They'll settle out-of-court for some agreed upon amount, this isn't a case where millions can be had, the officer is good to go, he just did his job according to facts presented.

Well I’m not in y’all’s camp. West believed in his wife in the face of the media and everyone else, he said politics be damned. I’m in her corner because I’m convinced she was not impaired. That bulldog mentality is what I want standing up to the Democrats. I’m tired of hearing a bunch of politician talk only to puss out when it gets down to the nut cutting.
Yes I think Mrs west is a no driving old woman who stated she was on the phone with her daughter when the incident occurred. Don’t remember who it was that said her liberties were not infringed upon but that is incorrect. She was jailed. If it had been my wife I would have been pissed too, because I know my wife. No she can’t drive a lick. How many of us participating in this post have taken phone calls while we were behind the wheel if we are honest about it? Doesn’t make it right but I can’t say I haven’t. How many have seen a police officer on the phone in their patrol car? Y’all watch Lonestar Law? They talk on their phone while driving too. I’m not arguing that talking on the phone and driving is not a problem. Condemning Mrs West for doing it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
