No opinion from me, but some observations.

Prior to being pulled over, she was way out of the lane a couple times though she could have been on the phone or something.
I know for a fact my wife could not have passed all of those tests sober without some vertigo checking in.
I am not privy to what an officer looks for with the eyes, but the officer obviously saw something.
West's wife does not appear to freak out until the breathalyzer came out and does appear to be faking the act of blowing into it.
I don't think the officer had any clue that this was a politician's wife.

Driving on the shoulder for a considerable distance for no reason, stopped in the middle of a highway when pulled over and puffed on the PBT so it couldn’t give a correct BAC level. I’ve seen all I need to see.

I wouldn't say that it's perfect handling of a vehicle.

The video posted above is much clearer than the one from the press conference. She's toast. I take back my earlier questioning of the DPD.

Objective thoughts:
1.) She was not abused, brutalized, etc.
2.) She obviously couldn't stay in her lane. She could have been on the phone or something else though
3.) Who stops in the middle lane for being pulled over? Then, who makes a turn after being instructed to move and still stays on the road?
4.) She was nervous as all get out. Not sure why, but it was obvious
5.) She isn't exactly in shape, so I don't know what to think about the field tests or her ability to sustain breath
6.) That sure seems like a rookie cop IMO which didn't help the situation

I would say that’s a damn good objective review man.

Is moving the pen outside of the range of motion of the eyes (and saying to not move your head) a normal sobriety test?

Asking for the subject to walk a line (that is not there, I could not see it) a normal test?

Asking a fat person to walk heal to toe on a line that does not exist a normal test?

She drove like a dumba**, but I want to see the blood test.



I do not care about Allen West. Abbot has done some dumb sh** with closing the economy, but I would give him a solid 7 out of 10 understanding hindsight is 20/20. I think he needs to move on as he has been governor long enough.

I believe that that those are standard tests, and that most officers know what to look for when conducting them. I’m not an officer, though, so I’ll let them explain it.

Pretty good summary. I’ve never been pulled over for suspected DWI and I’m not a LEO, so I don’t know how it’s supposed to go, but she failed, and the officer definitely seemed green.

Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus is an involuntary jerking of the eyes as the eyes gaze toward the side. Absolutely a standard for FSE tests.

Heel to toe walk is also standard as is the one leg stand. In the video you see the officer get her phone, open and clear the calculator app so she can document the number of clues she observes.

I will say this and what a nice surprise. Chief Garcia at the helms of DPD. A few ok many Police Chiefs could learn how to back their officers up. Not sure if Garcia is like this through all high profile events but those DPD Officers could use someone like this in command. Carry on........................

The guards at the front gate at carswell afb would dump change on the ground, then tell you to stand on one leg and pick up the nickels.

1. the cop had every right to stop her.
2. She made questionable decisions that would lead one to think she was drunk
3. She didn't seem chit faced to me
4. The cop didn't give the best field sobriety test
5. Driver didn't follow directions very well
6. The cop did the right thing
7. I can't wait for the blood test, he might of had a medical episode
8. Allen West needs to apologize, and thank the officer for not allowing his wife to continue driving with the grandson in the car
9. Needs not run for governor......

Throwing someone's car keys into waist high Johnson grass in an unlit vacant lot and telling them when they are sober enough to find their keys, they are sober enough to drive again, has been done many times. That was a long time ago though, when everything was much simpler.

Watching the FST was tiresome, officer spent way too much time on the pen test. I would have said that's enough. Officer was obviously pretty green. I know what drunk eyes look like, she didn't have them. She passed that FST IMO. I have watched people fail, badly. She did pretty good for an old lady IMO. Interesting to see what comes of this. It sucks though, because I really wanted to like Mr West, but he showed his [censored] on this one folks.

I got a DWI 15 years ago, and I thank God that Trooper stopped me from ruining the rest of my life. I was speeding, heading to a location to handle some pretty serious personal affairs. Had a loaded 12 gauge in the front seat that I was prepared to use. Was asked to do a FBT, answer was no Sir. Just look at this pen....no Sir. Put one leg up and stick your finger in your [censored], no Sir. He said why are you refusing this test? I said because I am drunk Sir and shouldn't be driving. Just arrest me and take me to jail so that I don't waste any more of your time. Jail was the best place for me that night. Those were dark times that I am glad are behind me, but the moral of this story is erbody calm down. Let's see what the bloodwork says.

I don't like how Mr West handled this situation at all, without knowing the facts. He showed his elite azz. There may be something going on with his wife that he is not aware of. Sucks when that happens..
